Blackpool First Flute are a band of loyal men, women and children who provide musical accompaniment to the Orange Order, Grand Black Chapter and Apprentice Boys of Derry at parades and social functions.
In the early days we were an all male band but now we are mixed and it is pleasing to see the number of youngsters now in our ranks which will hopefully ensure this band has a long future. One thing hasn't changed and that is our committment to remaining an 'Orange' band with all our members belonging to the institution.
The band were formed from LOL 2001, Blackpool Faith Defenders Orange Lodge in 2002. We did our first parade, along the promenade in our home town, on the 10th of May 2003 and have gone from strength to strength taking part in parades all over England and Scotland at locations such as Southport, Manchester, Corby, Newcastle, West Calder & Northallerton.
In 2005 we walked in Ulster (Bushmills) on the 12th as well as taking part in the Glasgow Boyne Celebrations with District 12.. In 2006 we were invited back to both places.
In 2006 we added Maybole & Blackburn in Scotland, Hull & Sheffield in England to the list of places we have paraded.
2007 saw us return to some of the places we had been to before such as Manchester and Liverpool.
2008 sees another parading season for the band and we hope it turns out to be a good one with a few exciting ventures in the pipeline such as parading the long Belfast 12th!
Should you wish to contact the band for any reason please email the address in the 'Contact the Band' page.
