A new look for the site. :)
Some Fallout news from
No Mutants Allowed...(delayed :))
You didn't think we were done, did you?
No Mutants Allowed is proud to present Black Isle Studio's Van Buren tech demo (Van Buren is BIS' cancelled Fallout 3 project), you can download it via our fileserver.
A few very basic notes:
1. Installation is basically unpacking the RAR file and clicking .exe. There is some waiting time the first time you load it.
2. Don't forget that this is a pre-alpha tech demo from 2003: the
combat is pretty much unimplemented (sucky realtime only), the graphics
are really basic. Also, most people will want to change the resolution,
which can be done after the first time you run it. See instructions here
3. The file is a whopping 241 MB, but don't be disappointed that it
doesn't offer a full night's worth of gameplay (though in true Fallout
style, it offers a lot of different paths to victory).
4. Also in true Fallout style, the demo is very, very buggy. Expect frequent crashes.
Since this is probably the last time we will be posting on Van Buren,
let me take this opportunity to send out a thank-you to the Van Buren
staff and everyone who ever worked for Black Isle Studios. Gentlemen
(and ladies); it was an honour and a privilege to watch you work and a
pleasure to play your games. We salute you.

A Demon's Honor

Just came back from my long needed "out of town" vacation. I thought I'd share with you one of my favorite games. It is one of the few games that gave me a "thrilling sensation" usually not found in RPG Maker Games. Check out this RPG2K Masterpiece; I'm sure you'll like it.
"In this game you play as Jeannine, a quintessential horror story protagonist with a well-behaved pet dog who would never, for example, go ape-shit and try to gore you in the abdomen. You and two friends find yourselves lost in the woods one day and decide to seek refuge in a nearby mansion. Certainly nothing could go wrong; people do that sort of thing all the time, don't they? But what you are about to discover is that this is no ordinary mansion, and its inhabitants are no ordinary people... Welcome to The Longing Ribbon. (Not Rocky Horror.)"

Zenosoft updated it's free RPG Maker XP game Dark Eternal: Dissolution; below is the lowdown.
Dissolution: An overview
Dark Eternal: Dissolution, part I of a II part saga, is a cintematic 2D rpg designed in the RMXP engine. It chronicles the journey of 'Danis', a mysterious duelist who was found washed ashore in north western Nikotha by Brian, a local vagrant and troublemaker to the people of 'Domna', a forest community rooted deep in Nikothian territory. Brian learns that Danis has lost his memory, and decides to join him as a guide in Danis' new quest to discover his past identity.
Dark Eternal: Dissolution has been in development since December '04, and now over a year later, the final version is to be released in the coming week. Along with a slew
of changes, some of the major additions to the game include a brand new message system, featuring a higher resolution skin and face graphics, 6 additional sidequests and minigames, many additional cutscenes and story sequences throughout the game, over 150 redesigned maps, an extended ending and much more.

This site was originally planned to be a shrine to all games created by "Black Isle Studios"; but now it has taken a new direction it will be dedicated to all things RPG.

I recently discovered RPG Maker XP and it is a wonderful yet simple program to create your own RPG with little or no programming experience whatsoever.
I was drawn to it by a shareware game called "Aveyond" (www.amaranthia.com) and instantly purchased the game for its old-school feel.

"Follow the adventures of Rhen, a young girl who is drawn to an exotic land where she is forced into slavery. When it is discovered that she can use sword magic, she is sent to Shadwood Academy, where she grows strong in her powers, only to discover that she is tied to a great evil at the heart of a dark prophecy! Packed with over 50 hours of role-playing gameplay, hundreds of characters and creatures, strategy-based battles and lots more, Aveyond is a fantastical quest for one and all!"
I am toying around RMXP thinking of making my own game. But I am still very inexperienced so I plan to study more on how to create such games.
