Black Bear Hideout

Welcome to Black Bear Hideout, nestled in the wooded valley below Big Powderhorn Mountain located in Bessemer, Michigan.  Just a short walk from the main lodge, Black Bear Hideout is the perfect retreat for our family, and we hope you’ll find it the perfect retreat for yours, too.  Black Bear Hideout is privately owned, but managed by the Big Powderhorn Lodging Association with local staff on call.

Black Bear's living room boasts a 21-foot cathedral A-Frame ceiling, open to a second floor balcony and a third floor loft. The living areas are adorned with new light pine tongue-and-groove paneling.  Enjoy the north woods décor while you warm up by the gas fire place or enjoy cable or movies on the 27” TV.  We have provided a DVD/ VCR player and a small selection of family VHS videos.  A stereo with a 3 CD disc changer is also provided.

Warm up by the gas fireplace.  Play a game of chess on the hand-stenciled game table.

The eat-in kitchen comfortably seats eight.  There is a fully stocked kitchen with full size refrigerator, oven, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster and 4 quart crockpot for your convenience.  A Weber grill is located on the front deck.

For those cold north woods nights, the second floor sauna will surely warm you up.

Black Bear Hideout Sleeps 8 guests, with 2 bedrooms on the first floor, each with a queen bed, and two bedrooms upstairs with 2 twin beds in each room.

Kids will love the third story loft with a TV/VCR combination with front jacks ready to accommodate your video gaming system.  An assortment of board games and books will keep the kids busy after ski.
