*An Elf's Story*
-This story is just a random thing, it's just a fantasy story. It will be written over time, as always. I was inspired to create this for your entertainment Lol. So here you are, An Elf's Story! Let me know what you think will you :)
Anira was clad in blue. A sword hung by her side and her long dark hair was in a bun. Bright green eyes stared from beneath a hooded coat. Her horse grazed near by as she searched for food.
Anira came from an elven background but was rather like a ranger of types. She was travelling to help protect the surrounding lands. Her father, Dellan, hated the fact she roamed around alone. He wished her safe as any father would.
She had the skill of healing, being of some sort of royal blood line, and great wisdom. She could use a sword and bow if need be though she was elegant and graceful when the time called for it. Like many elves alike. Though some fell into a more sinister line, The Dark Elves.
She gulped down some water and turned to see her horse, Salba, eating quietly and smiled.
Not far from Anira a wizard walked through the forest. He was unlike the wizards of old, in fact quite different from them. He was tall, as is a trait of wizards to be so, but quite young looking. And he strangely had the look of an elf. No beard, clean shaven, piercing grey eyes, fairly long hair and with those famous pointy elven ears. In fact he was a half-elf wizard. Strange in this world but not uncommon. His father was a wizard and his mother an elf.
He spotted Anira and headed in her direction.
"Do you know where the nearest inn is?" he asked in a low voice.
Anira turned.
"I believe it is just a few miles away, into that village somewhere," she said pointing.
She took her time to observe this newcomer.
"Oh right," he said, "Do you mind if I join you?"
He had to be careful, since wizards were distrusted.
Anira's face clouded. Her eyes darkened as she considered this. She didn't think he was evil, though looks meant nothing around here any more. You cannot trust those you once thought you could. Sure enough wizards were wise and powerful but strange things had happened lately. And a half-elf wizard asking to accompany another wandering woman was strange enough to make her think twice.
"If you so wish. I am headed for the village anyway," she said. Her horse's head reared upwards and she caught the bonds.
She jumped up onto Salba and rode off in the direction of the village. The wizard named Belenus Alexander stared ahead.
"I'll just walk then!" he shouted after her.
She had heard him but continued on anyway.
When Belenus finally reached the
A bar-maid waddled over, a grin across her pretty little face. She looked down at Belenus and her eyes glowed. Anira looked up and sighed.
"Water," she said coldly. She smiled as a little plan crossed her mind.
"Oh and darling what do you want?" she asked Belenus as she sat nearer to him. His face was a puzzled one.
"I," he began. While she fluttered her eyes at him.
The maid's smile faded.
"I think an ale will be fine thank you," she said and the maid walked away.
Belenus' face stared at Anira's and scowled.
"I could have had her under my thumb," he said.
And Anira laughed.
"So your name is?" she asked moving on.
"Belenus Alexander. I am from Boldon," he said watching her drink.
She nodded her head.
"Umm yes I thought as much," she said.
"What do you mean by that?" he asked.
"Oh nothing, it's just your cloth, it looks like the ones I have seen from Boldon that's all," she said.
There was a silence for a while as they drank. He sat back on his chair.
"Oh I am Anira of the Elves of Solardell," she said.
His eyes shone for a moment as a memory passed his mind.
"Something wrong?" she asked as he stared at her.
"My....my mother she came from there. She is dead now. Killed by Mandar the Dark," he said. He could never say that without his eyes becoming watery and his throat gaining a painful lump.
Anira looked down to her glass.
"I am sorry," she said. He shrugged it off as if it was nothing.
"It couldn't be helped. Siel claimed her spirit, Fate called her Home as it were," he said, his voice soft.
Siel was a High Elf. She dwelled far beyond the
*************************************************************************
Though Belenus seemed like a genuine person he could not be trusted. Anira had trusted to many people and they had used this against her, when she was younger and naive. She couldn't help wondering if this story he told was a lie like all the others, just to make her feel for him. Many a time had this simple but effective plan lead to the downfall of many of her kin.
You see for the dark creatures of this world they need to avoid Death at all costs. To be sent to where Sanelle dwelled was not something they wished to ever experience. They feared this High Elf beyond all others because she was so powerful. Her history was a deep and evil one and not many elves liked to speak of it, for she was once a Good Elf, of pure intentions, until she fell in love with the King of Fadmar, Jespian. In the end she killed him. Fadmar was cut off from the rest of the world and spells and enchantments were cast so that none but bad spirits could enter, unless you were of great power and knowledge. And to stay in this world they needed the Blood of the Pure and Good Elves were a prime source of this.
"So why are you here? An female elf alone is not what you normally see around these parts," he asked, his face full of curiosity.
"I would rather not talk of that now, for I am tired and need my sleep," she said.
He nodded and decided not to ask any more questions. He rose and went to the bar-man to enquire on a place to stay.
"Only ne room left," he said as she returned and placed a key on the table. She stared at it for a moment and then looked up. His eyes were lighter than before and she wondered if this was another part of his plot.
"Well are you sure? I would rather sleep alone," she said her voice showing that smallest amount of panic.
He smiled. "It's ok I wont kill you in your sleep," he replied with a laugh. This didn't make her feel any better but begrudgingly walked with him to their room.
It was small, with a bed and a chair and a little window. The fireplace was dark and unlit and the room was stuffy and dusty.
"I'll take the bed, you take the chair," ordered Anira before he could say a word. he obeyed and steeled down into it, facing the window. He could see out into the night, the little village glowed below him.
"I know there is know trust in our relationship but I would ask if I could earn it," he asked with a smile.
Anira rolled over in the bed and looked at him. She new this didn't look good for her at all. In a room with a man is didn't know at all, no trust and no proof of who he was or anything.
"You kill me in the night and I'll come back to haunt you," she said with a decisive voice. She placed her sword next to her and fell into a deep sleep.
In this time of rest Belenus did not sleep. What had happened to him before he met with this elf of Solardell played on his mind.
*Two days ago
"Don't make me laugh half-breed! I killed your father, now it is your turn," shouted a voice. On looked at this creature one would be struck with a certain amount of fear, but when it had been tracking you for months you got used to it. This demon was named Gorth. His face was dark and uneven, two horns embedded on ether side of his head, with yellow slits for eyes and a sharp nose. He worked for Mandar and had been sent to kill Belenus as he possed a great threat.
He had escaped Gorth only with luck. The fight before-hand wasn't in Bel's favour. He'd been smashed to the ground, beat till blood ran freely from his nose and mouth. And you see him now and he is as good as new, thanks to the wood spirits of the forest he crawled into after running from Gorth. Not the most noble and brave thing he could have done but it was better than dying.
He shivered in the chair as he remembered what happened next. He fell to the forest floor, Life escaping as quick as a shooting star. He could feel the cold breath of Death on his neck and the grasping hands of Sanelle and Siel. Whispered voices as what was to be decided, Sanelle or Siel, Pain or Peace. And then came the laughter of the wood spirits. He thought he would die and yet he lived now. The spirits chased away Death. They revived him and told him to follow the forest's edge and he would find something to help him. But what puzzled him was that it was a woman, of all things. And he thought the spirits must have been mistaken.
In the morning Anira awoke to the snoring of Belenus. She went over and prodded him in the arm but he didn't move and the snoring continued. She shrugged and went downstairs for food. She decided that she would enquire if anything strange had happened then more on. There was no need for her to linger here. So she payed her half and walked outside to where the stables where. She retrieved Salba and went the Council House.
"And your name is?" asked a stubble little man behind a large desk.
"Anira of Solardell. I am here to enquire after the Head of Council," she replied. He nodded and walked through a large door and returned a few minuets later.
"Through there please," he said and she walked forward. Nothing out of the ordinary had come about yet but he was instructed to inform Anira's people if anything happned when she left.
Belenus came out from the inn and was looking for Anira. He felt that the spirits may have been correct, his dream told him so. He wondered about Anira and her life and where she was going. So many questions that he wanted answered. He saw her coming from the Council House and ran over.
"Why did you leave?" he asked. She looked at him and sighed.
"Because it's my job. I now must go to the next village and then return home with my findings. I am a scout of sorts," she said.
"Ah that would explain it. Well then you may want to hear me out before you leave here," he said. And it was then he explained his meeting with Gorth and what he believed was a new uprising of the Dark Ones.
"I have no time to go to the next village. I will send a message to Elenion and tell him to go on alone and I will meet him back at Solardell and I shall go there now and tell all I have heard," she decided.
"Wait. What about me?" he asked looking up at her.
"If you can get a horse and food then you can travel with me as far as I see fit," she said.
"All the way," he demanded. She sighed and nodded.
And so together they set of for Solardell.
**************************************************************************
"So who is Elenion?" he asked.
"He is a High Elf Prince of the South. He came to help as his father is in allience with my own father, Dellan," she replied.
"And this Prince, do you like him?" he asked.
"He is a skilled warrior and kind enough," she replied and wondered why he had asked that.
"I see. So you are the daughter of Dellan. And your father is he a high elf?" he asked.
"Yes he is, he is Lord of Solardell," she replied and rode on faster.
He couldn't believe his ears. Lord of Solardell then that would mean that she was a Princess.
"And you are a Princess? Why would a princess choose such a life?" he asked.
"Do you have to ask so many questions? Yes I am and I chosse this life because I didn't want to be held down by the fact I am a woman. I want to have power and I want to use that power for good," she replied with a sharp coldness.
And so for most of the journey Belenus was quiet. He thought on what he had already heard and he was quite paranoide. He kept on looking back and searching behind them. Waiting for Gorth to punce from the shadows and take him. Anira noticed his nervousness and sped up.
Two days had passed and the two were tired and longed for a rest but they didn't dare incase Gorth had caught on that they were making for the elven stronghold of Solardell.
"Just a few more miles and we will have reached the Woods of Solardell. All we need to do is gain access which may take a while considering I am with you," she said.
And she was right.
"There in know way I can let him through mylady," replied an elf. He stood witha group of others arrow knocked and ready to fire.
"Please, he is safe. Do you really think I would travel with a Dark One?" she asked.
"No mylady, parden me," he said and ordered the other elves to retreat and let them pass.
"Oh and watch out. A demon was following us at one point," she said before riding on into the wood.
They passed on through with ease until they reached the city's boundarys. They had to be checked and then let in afterwards. Anira jumped of and ran up the stone steps of a large beautiful building.Belenus just stood and stretched. He took a seat near a fountain and waited for he could not enter the Lord's resisdence without permission.
"Belenus Alexander?" asked a voice. He rose and turned to see a male elf bow low.
"Yes," he replied.
"Please follow me," said the elf and he lead the way to a smaller building.
"You will find water and clothing. When you are ready the Lord Dellan bids you follow me to the Halls," the young elf said. He bowed once more and then walked out closing the door behind him.
**********************************************************************
When he was ready he followed the elf to the Halls.
"Please wait here," said the elf and he disappeared.
Belenus stood in a open court of stone. Vines crawled their way around the pillars and little white flowers grew everywhere. Elven maidens sang sweet music and the air was filled with a soothing breeze. A woman walked down one of the halls towards him. Her head was bowed as she looked at something in her hands.
She looked up and smiled on seeing him. Though Belenus looked puzzled.
"It is Anira," she said, answering his silent question.
"Anira? Wow" he whispered. She smiled again.
This Anira was clean, her hair hung loose and her cloth was quite beautiful, quite unlike the Anira he'd travelled with not long ago. He could see the deep colour of her eyes now and was quite taken back by her beauty, something he had not really noticed before. Sure he thought she was pretty but now he could see her in her Home environment and she was so different.
She played with a ring in her hands and kept looking down at it every now and then. There was a silence where they just stood. Another figure took to the hall Anira had come down but this one was male. He was dressed in a dark blue with silver designs on. His hair was long and blond and his eyes were a wonderful blue. He was quite the original elf as it were.
"Elenion!" she called and he moved quickly and embraced Anira tightly.
Belenus became quite annoyed and coughed.
"Elenion this is Belenus Alexander, the one I told you of in the letter," she announced a new found lightness in her heart.
Belenus nodded his head and Elenion. He was just about to say something when the elf returned.
"My Lord will see you now," he said.
Belenus looked at Anira and sighed as he walked away.
"So you are Belenus Alexander. The one whom informs my daughter of an uprising?" asked Lord Dellan.
Belenus nodded his head.
"An uprising of Dark Ones my Lord. I believe that all Pure Bloods are in danger. As you know," he began.
"I will hear none of it. Belenus, I will not put my people in any more danger than is necessary. I will be part of no war," Dellan said and turned his back to the fire in front of him.
"But my Lord there will be death, surley that is the greater danger that your people face?," Belenus said.
"Leave. I understand you are being followed, so I ask that you leave by the morrow," Dellan said and retired into another room, leaving Belenus alone by the light of a dying fire.
He some how found his way to a garden, where one of many waterfalls fell down the side of the cliff. Anira followed him there.
"How did it go?" she asked sitting on a stone bench.
"I am to leave on the morrow," he said. She walked round to where he stood.
"No you lie. Why? Why would my father not do anything?" she asked.
"Your father chooses to ignore the dangers that are coming his way," he said.
"But," She new this was true, " You will not leave. I mean you will stand and help me convince him wont you?" she asked.
He looked down at her.
"You have Elenion," he said coldly and turned to walk to his room.
The next day he was gone. There was no trace that he had ever been there. For days Anira walked the halls alone. Thinking of what she could do to make her father see what was going to happen.
An elf rushed by her one day as she thought alone again.
"Dar!" she shouted. *Halt!
And the elf came back.
"Tancave Anira," he replied. *Yes/Certainly
She took the note and read it.
'My Lord several villages have been raided and all Pure Bloods have been killed. And there have been many scares around the country. We request more able warriors as a raid has broken out now far from here'
"Sen tir?" she asked. *Is this true?
"Tancave," he replied. *Yes/Certainly.
"Hannon le," she said before running out to the court yards. *Thank you.
She took a horse and rode out through the forest.
"Raid where?" she asked sharply.
"Not far ahead my Lady," replied an elf.
She rode to where she could see a small village, fire ragged through the streets and Mandar's warriors were searching for Pure Bloods.
She jumped from the horse and began hewing them down. She spotted Belenus on the ground and couldn't believe her eyes. She bent down and dragged him into the shadow of a building.
"Le hannon a tholel" he said with a weak smile. *Thank you for coming.
"Glassen," she replied. *My pleasure. She looked and he had a tipped arrow inbeded in his side. She pulled out the exess arrow but the shard remained deep in his side.
It was then he passed out. Help eventually came but all Pure Bloods were dead.
He woke to Anira sat asleep in a chair by his bed. His side was tight but felt better. She opened her eyes and smiled. She sat on the side of the bed and brushed back his hair.
"Manen nalye?" she asked. *How are you?
"Im maer," he said. *I'm well. He smiled and lifted himself up alittle.
"Good," she said, changing to common speach," I will find some one to help you."
She stood but he pulled on her hand.
"Will you be comming back?" he asked.
"Yes," she said, heading for the door," Oh and Belenus, Elenion is my brother."
"Your brother!?" he shouted but she had already left.
*********************************************************************
When Anira returned she came with an elder elf. She saw to the wound in his side and began to re-dressed it in fresh bandages.
"Anira you told me your brother was a High Elf Prince of the South?" he asked as he flinched at the pain that rushed down his side.
"Well, I lied but only because I didn't trust you at all," she said with a smile.
"Oh well!" he replied and bit his tongue as the pain returned.
Once the elder elf had finished she gave him a clear liquid to drink, though it was not water, and left quietly.
"So you think you can walk now?" she asked.
He nodded and lifted himself up and out of the bed. They walked out towards the garden that they had been in before.
"I would have left some sort of note but your father was quite sure he wanted me gone. Does he know I'm here?" he asked.
"No he does not," she said and stopped.
***********************************************************************************
"I think you should tell him," he added.
"He's in his halls. He will not listen. To think a great Elven Lord will not listen to his own daughter," she said sadly.
"And what of your mother?" he asked.
"She is dead. She died when I was young. While you were away I, I found something of great importance to both of us. My mother died with yours," she said. She pulled him by his hand.
They walked in to an over grown glade. In from of them was a great statue of the High Elf Siel and many other stones that bore the names of the fallen. Red flowers sprang up all over the place with the white ones Bel had seen before. Anira walked to the nearest ones and bent down.
"Lady Tarsis of Solardell. And here Ethosa Alexander," she read.
He fell to his knees and cringed as the pain rushed upwards. He touched the stone, his mothers name and the flowers that surrounded it. And he looked at Anira, tears in his eyes.
"I will convince your father and I will kill Mandar," he said before embracing Anira.
*********************************************************************************
Anira felt a rush of warmth as he held her, quiet unlike anything she had ever felt before. He looked down at her and kissed her lips. She had never kissed him, maybe she had dreamt about it but never experienced his lips touching her own. It was amazing, she felt a tingle rush through her. Elenion stood watching, hidden by the trees and smiled before turning to walk silently away. And before she could take it all in and breathe again he was wandering off, probably to find her father.
She sighed as she stood alone again. The sound of the elves singing returning to her ears. She sat for a while and stared at the stones and the names that were on them. A figure passed by here and she turned quickly. It was quiet unlike her to feel so restless in her own home, but she was. A figure stood, hazy to her eyes even though her sigh was good.
"Mara aure?" she called softly. *Hello?
No reply came so she rose quietly and moved forward. The figure looked back and then continued to walk into the trees.
"Tolo hi," a voice whispered softly. *Come now
And so she followed the figure to the base of a waterfall. The figure turned and smiled at her. It was a beautiful woman, clad in silver white.
"Iston le?" Anira asked *Do I know you
The woman smiled and hugged Anira.
"Hebo elstel. Aov 'osto," the woman said before fading into the waterfall. *Have hope. Fear not
"Wait! Come back!" she shouted and passing elves stared at her.
She jumped passed the waterfall to an open cave. She searched, there was know where she could have gone.
"Anira!" came the voice of Belenus. He followed her in.
"Can you see her? Search quick Belenus, search!" she shouted at him.
He looked at her puzzled, there was no one but himself and Anira in the cave.
"Anira there is no one here. Search for who?" he asked,"Calm yourself my love."
He grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed back her hair. She was suddenly frantic as she thought of the woman's face and who she could be. She had looked so familiar, quiet like her mother and that made it worse. To think she hadn't realised in time to tell her about the problems she now faced, about her father and Belenus.
"It was her, she was here," she gasped.
Belenus pulled her close to his chest and swayed gently, soothing her.
"Who?" he whispered.
"My mother," she replied.
He looked down on her puzzled but kept on swaying and kissed her head.
**********************************************************
He had taken her back to her room. He sat there watching her think to herself, trying to work out what was going on. He could see she was franticly racking her brain for memories of her mothers face. He sighed and sat on her bed.
"Stop, stop," he said softly and grabbed her again.
He kissed her and laid her down. She laid her head on his chest, listening to his heart beat quietly in her ear, but careful not to press on his wound. And soon she fell into a light sleep.
"Don't leave me," she whispered as he moved.
"Sleep," he said.
**********************************************************
He looked down at her sleeping face and sighed. Maybe he should leave. Her father wasn't exactly happy with his presence and what could he possibly bring to her? He was never one for romance but she was like no one he had ever met before. He lifted up and placed her back down, pulling the cover over her and leaving silently.
"Leaving so soon?" asked Elenion.
Belenus turned and smiled wearily.
"A walk. I am going for a walk," he replied.
Elenion looked at him, his eyes peircing through Belenus before walking off in the other direction. Belenus sighed as he leant on a wall. His side pounded with pain and his heart beat out of time.
He walked back and went to try another time with Anira's father, but he would not see him. So he returned to Anira's room, where she still slept. He kissed her gently and left a note by her side.
'Anira, My Love,
I am gone to Mandar. I think it best I did not wake you, I can not face goodbyes. I want you to know if I do not return I am sorry - Bel'
She read it when she woke. She ran to her brother.
"Where is he? Why did you not stop him!" she screamed.
"Anira?" he said.
She showed him the note and he sighed deeply.
"Goheno nin," he said. *Forgive me
"He is not strong enough to fight against Mandar," she gasped.
"I will help you find him sister," he replied and hugged her.
*****************************************************
Belenus walked, bearing his pain and speeding up his steps. He had traveled quiet far when he realised he had no real idea of where he was going. His eyes became weiry and began to blur his vision. He walked across an open plain and it lead to a cliff edge. He fell to the floor and his eyes shut unable to open again. The sea beyond sent him into a deeper sleep full of dark dreams and the Moon rose above him.
Anira stood on the edge of the cliff, her hair blowing in the rising wind. Bel stood a little way behind her bekoning her to return to him. She did not move but continued looking ahead. The sea began to rise and bubble, expanding further and further until a large space opened directly below the cilff. And out of this black hole came a screaming dragon, a dark figure riding upon it's blood stained back. Bel fell backwards at it's call and yet Anira stood still, unmoved by the creature in front of her.
The creature swooped down and the figure caught Anira.
"Anira!" shouted Bel, but his voice was lost in the wind and when he awoke he still whipsered her name. And it danced upon his lips.
***************************************************
"Wait wait wait. Think about this Anira; what if you can't find him, or you get hurt, he is not worth it," her father bellowed at her. He stood in the shadows scowling at what Anira had just said.
"His name is Belenus for one and for two you are meant to protect this land, your land and yet you persist in ignoring what confronts you. Soon it will be so close it could slap you in the face and yet you stand here pretending nothing is happening. I see it, Elenion sees it, your people see it. So do something about it!" she shouted.
He stood there wide eyed at his daughter, distrought with anger though he did not speak.
"Go to the cave father," she said before leaving.
Elenion waited with a group of armed elves.
"Ready sister?" he asked. She looked back to where her father had stood.
"Ready," she replied and jumped up onto her horse. They set out through the forest to check which way Bel had gone. They pointed to the North, which wasn't much help at all but still followed the road Northwards hoping to glimpse Bel.
*****************************************************
Dellan walked through his gardens to the cave where his daughter had asked him to go. He stood there looking round and sighed deeply, there was nothing and he saw no point in this. Though as before to Anira, her mother appeared. He did not realise at first, because so many times before had he seen angelic visions of the woman her loved dearly, but they were mearly visions.
"Tarsis?" he called softly and she smiled.
He embraced her tightly and kissed her.
"How?" he managed to say.
"Oh so many questions My Love though I have not the time. I am here olny to aid you. You must help Anira and Elenion and your people. Mandar will take all the Pure Bloods and kill them thus growing stronger and the World can not face such an enemy," she said.
He nodded slowly, a tear running down his cheek. He new he really had to do something.
