Thousands of years ago on the land now we call Asia
Intensity filled the grand council chamber. There were murmurs from different ends of the place while fingers were pointed at a figure standing with their head low. It was the young Chinese faerie, Mei Ling. Lifting up her head slowly, her crystal ocean blue eyes searched for someone, anyone, who was on her side. But everywhere she looked, a glare or a face of disgust was returned. She drooped her head once again; no one was willing to back her up. Even her own kind had abandoned her when not so long ago that they were a great family. What were they afraid of? Was it that sinful to have fallen in love with the king of the dragon clan? Mei Ling in her heart always knew it would come to this when she decided to step over the line and be with another from a different clan.
Moments later which in reality felt like it was hours ticking by, Members of the Royal Council came out from their discussion room and up behind the high stadium. They consisted of kings and lords, one of each to represent a their own clan. All the members of the Council had a say in it except for the Dragon King, Heise himself. He was held in a separate room where there was no way he could listen into the Council’s meeting because the room had a spell that made it sound-proof. There’s nothing he could do because if he had try, the punishment would be much worse. They called him out. This was it, the decision had been made.
Heise was brought out by his best friend from the Dragon clan, Zhong Zhi Shen, holding him by the side as he led the way into the room. For someone who used to be so noble and always held his head so high was now more defeated than ever. When he saw Mei Ling across from him when he reached into the middle of the room, he gave her a small smile of reassurance. She couldn’t help but returned a weak smile in return. In their minds though held great fear. What would become of them?
“Creatures from far and wide, today I present to you the judging trial of Mei Ling, from the Faerie clan, and Heise, King of the Dragon clan!” The Angel Lord announced, automatically silencing everyone within the vast room. “Today we witness a crime against the signed agreement that swore that no one from any clan shall fall in love with another in a different clan.”
“His Highness, Heise, signed the agreement for his clan himself!” The Demon Lord boomed, taking over the Angel Lord’s speech. “This event has caused a huge uproar among all the clans overnight once it was announced. Now you are all brought here to witness the punishment for those who opposed the law that was made many years ago to hold the peace!”
“And as of the sentence for this crime,” the King of Elves spoke in a low and humble tone, which made everyone even more quiet because they did not want to miss a single word. “Mei Ling is from now on will be banned from the faerie realm and is to be cast off on Earth. She will be reincarnated as a normal human and all ties with Heise will be cut. She will not recall anything of this life.”
Voices from every corner erupted once more. Some were shocked while others scoffed and thought that was hardly worth a punishment. Indeed, it was an interesting turnout.
The Elf King continued in a calm manner. “And as for his Highness, the Dragon King, shall be pardoned because the Dragon clan needs him seeing that there is no other successor to take his place.”
Some sighed with relief. It was a good thing because there would not be as much chaos and a possible war would not happen. Others were outraged. Why one receive all the punishment and the other was let off so easily?? There were demands being made to the Council because several felt the trial judgment was unfair or that it was being let off too easily.
The King of the Faeries held up his
hand to hush to noisy crowd. “We apologize but this is the final decision and
no changes will be made no matter how disappointed you are with this.” He
turned to Mei Ling, with pity and dismay. “I am sorry, my dear, but
the verdict have been made. Bless you in your next life.” He turned away as he
could not look at her in the eyes no more. Her eyes were full with sadness,
anger, and betrayal. The Faerie King always thought of her as one of his many
daughters and didn’t want her life to end this way, but majority within the
Council voted for this outcome. It was much better than having her soul lost in darkness forever.
“No… Please… Anything but this…” Mei Ling’s voice quivered and teardrops fell from her crystal-like eyes. She was pulled away by one of the faeries to the other side of the room, away from Heise.
“Mei Ling!!” Heise was about to run to her but he was held back by two members from the Royal Dragon Forces. “Let go! Do you know who you are dealing with??” He growled at them. One was Zhong, his loyal and most trusted right hand man. Both guards were under orders to keep him away from Mei Ling at all costs. Even with all of his force, Heise was spell -bounded from the beginning so he could not use any of his powers nor did he have the strength of a god.
“No! No! Noooooo!” Mei Ling shrieked, not able to keep herself contained no more. She thrashed and kicked, but the older faerie that held onto her was too strong. Her hands were desperately trying to reach Heise but they were too far apart from each other no matter how hard they tried.
Heise, who was quarter demon, had his anger starting to reach the dangerous level. A dark, cold feeling came rushing throughout the atmosphere of the Council room. It took a moment to realize that Heise stopped fighting back. His icy blue eyes were now pure red and the pupils became slit-like. They were rimmed golden yellow. One of the dragon who was holding on to him, yelped and leaped back because his skin was pierced into when Heise’s nails grew long and sharp. Zhong knew that it would be sheer destruction because Heise would destroy everything in his path once his demon side was awakened. Immediately he let go of the Dragon King and quickly distanced himself.
Mei Ling view was blocked as
everyone scurried to stop Heise before someone else got hurt. She screamed his
name, wanting to push through the crowd and throw herself onto him but all was
like a faded memory when she was pushed into a magical portal. Everything was
hazy and Mei Ling was getting dizzy. The images of the Council Chamber were
becoming further and further away.
"Heise... I love you..." Mei Ling said, her voice echoed in the sea of darkness. She did not know what happened and her eyes closed gently, taking her into a deep sleep. What was happening…?
