My name is Deborah Jordan. I offer independent midwifery services in SE London. I am an experienced midwife offering individualised care during pregnancy, labour, birth and early parenthood. I have been a midwife for 17 years and a nurse for 12 years before that. I have worked in hospitals and community in the UK and Australia.

I believe that having a baby is a joyous normal family event and that in most pregancies the safest place to have your baby is at home. However, you may want to have your baby in hospital. Occasionally it is advisable to have your baby in hospital. My priorities are:

• the safety of you and your baby
• that you can choose your midwife, birthplace and how much midwifery support you need 
• that if you choose or need to have your baby in hospital the staff act in your best interests and not theirs  
• that independent midwifery care is available to ALL women
