The Bujinkan Dojo was founded by Dr. Massaki Hatsumi to further the teaching and spread of traditional budo to the world. Dr. Hatsumi is the current Soke, roughly translated as Grandmaster, of the Bujinkan. Dr. Hatsumi was awarded the title and position of Soke by his teacher, Toshitsugu Takamatsu, the previous Soke.

Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu is a martial arts system comprised of traditional battlefield skills. This is not a sport. Classes are taught in a safe, fun and effective manner in order to give the student practical methods of self-protection that are just as effective today as they were on the battlefields of Medieval Japan. We train in both unarmed and armed methods. We use both traditional and modern weapons and applications in our classes. We do not divide our classes between "beginner" and "advanced." We are all students of the Bujinkan under Hatsumi-sensei. Some are just a little further along the budo path than others.

If you are in the Birmingham, Alabama area and interested in training in a 900-year-old system of traditional Japanese martial arts you are welcom to join us for a free trial class. Please call (205) 902-4344 or email Bujinkan Kokoro no Bushi Dojo for more information.
