Birkhall Hounds are in South Lanarkshire, Scotland and was established in the early 1960's, by my Mum and Dad, with Bull Terriers. 1968 saw the arrival of Mum's first Afghan Hound and the rest, as they say, is history! The partnership now comprises of Mum - Sheila McDonald, her partner - Danny Martyn and myself, Claire Hindley. I was given a share in the Affix/ Kennel Name for my 16th birthday (a long, long time ago!!) and, finally, Danny joined it in 1991. Hopefully, in the future, my girls will get more involved. We exhibit regularly all over the UK and for the past 3 or so years in Ireland where we have made many new friends.
Sheila gives CCs in Afghans and is on the A3 list for Norwegian Elkhounds, she has judged in Africa, Ireland, on the Continent and in Scandinavia. I awarded CCs for the first time last June - just over 20 years from my first judging appointment :-)
