Practice Schedule
Colorguard will rehearse during 7th period and will have 20-30 minute break before marching band practice begins around 4:15pm. A Summer Colorguard Schedule is available on the guards website and provided in the audition packet. A detailed schedule of the school year is available on the guard & band websites. There will be a few additional Saturday practices in preparation for the numerous Marching Band Competitions this year.
Performances
The Colorguard performs with the marching band at all Varsity football games, several Saturday contests, and parades. In addition, select members of the colorguard will perform at separate competitions, pep-rallies and special events throughout the year. During the Spring Semester, the Winterguard performs at local, state, and national competitions on weekends from mid January through early April. A Special Spring Trip is planned for Feb./March 2009. Grades
Colorguard is a graded class. Students grades will be determined by attending practices and events, showing their best effort, and being properly prepared in regards to following guidelines (attire, equipment, supplies, & choreography).
Eligibility
The colorguard will abide by all UIL eligibility rules. Students must be passing all their classes to participate in colorguard.
Money
*See the new member and returning member supply lists for an approximate itemization of fees and payment schedules. If any adjustment in the payment schedule is necessary, please meet with Coach Lynch immediately. The first payment of $250.00 is due on May 10th or May 24th on Fall Registration Day held at the BHS Bandhall from 10am-2pm on both days. Registration will take approximately 30 minutes. You will receive a 10% discount if fees are paid in full on Registration Day. Your family will have numerous opportunities to participate in fundraising activities to help with costs.
Equipment
All members will check out a practice flag, rifle, sabre, and performance flags. Any flags, rifles, or sabres that have suffered damage outside of normal wear and tear will be replaced at the expense of the performer.
Attire
Form fitting workout clothes (fitted t-shirt, tank top, yoga pants, or tights) are required in rehearsals. No midriffs, see through shirts, visible bra straps, jewelry, or revealing shorts are allowed. Proper footwear must be worn at all times. All Hair will be pulled into a ponytail and off the face. Colorguard (practice) Gloves will be worn everyday.
