| well i thought i would take care of the rust first and a dent in a side pannel so i went at knocking it out with a hammer and then i started poking with a screwdriver | |
| this is one of the holes i found | |
| I then found quite a big hole it spread towards the floor and rear arch so time for the grinder i have cut the rust out and am left with 2 big holes in the floor and 1 in the bottom of the side door pillar | |
|
| After cutting it out i set about making a new piece out of some sheet metal in the shed i cut it to shape of the hole so that it lapped the wheel arch in order that i would get a good overlap | |
| here is the new piece in place | |
| i then set about welding it in to place "this was fun" having never stick welded before anyway got it welded into place and then give it a quick coat with bitchamin paint to protect it | |
|
| It was then time a tackel the difficult bit the one at the bottom of the door pillar this i was not looking forward to as ther were two bends on this piece and then the cill which i am wonting to replace | |
| this is the hole at the bottom of pillar | |
| well i have cut all the rust out and have removed the side cill ,o' my goodness it is in a worst condition than i thought . i was wondering how to go about tackling this next stage ? | |
|
| after some carful consideration i thought about welding in a piece of 2" angle iron as this would fit nicely into the place of the first bend and would make it easier to fit the new cill piece to | |
| The side cill removed and new angle iron in place | |
| i then set about replacing the piece at the bottom of the door pillar this has been removed from a scrap cf along with the cill piece as i could not find anyway of making them so a small cheat on this bit | |
