I have a wonderful book: The Used Book Lover's Guide to the Central States by David S. Siegel. These wonderful guides, part of a much larger series covering the U.S. and Canada, are very helpful locating book stores. Better than using the phone book. One thing I've noticed over the years is that Used Book Store owners don't always list thier stores in the phone book, and fewer still have websites. It seems the majority of used/rare bookstore owners do not list themselves in the phone book. I guess they don't because book store patrons usually learn about new stores mostly by word of mouth. That exact factor was what makes this series of guides great: there are reviews of the stores, describing the stock, specialties, relative quality and pricing. Even special notes about when stores are open and not, for those with erratic schedules. However, the last one was published in 1997, and the last supplement (I have) was printed around 2000. The Oklahoma section is dreadfully out of date, even in the supplement. Store closings are the biggest changes, which is disappointing to learn after you've blown an hour driving somewhere to find the store is gone. So, this section of the website is to help Oklahoma Bibliophiles find the stores that best suit their needs.
