We have two very ambitious shows coming up and we are going to need lots and lots of parent help to ensure the costuming is completed on time and in line with the director's vision for the show styling.
You DO NOT need to be a seamstress to help! If you can sew a button by hand, cut a pattern or even work an iron, we could use your help! (Of course, if you can actually sew, we want you too!)
To see how you can get involved, simply pop up to the show any Saturday from 9-2 or give Sally Graff a call. She can surely find a project to fit your interests and ability.
The summer has been spent re-organizing the costume shop. Many hours have gone into cleaning and reshaping the area for lots of work this year. Many more lights have been added to make it brighter and to utilize space better. Our hope is that everyone will be able to enjoy this space and make working up here a better place.
Before After
This is a storage area that also works as an ironing station and a dressing room.
In this corner, we have more storage and a place for all the hot gluing to be done.
Here we have a space for production work, as well as hand sewing.
We have made this corner work for two more sewing spaces.
Another storage, dressing room area.
Original sewing spaces, now for just two machines.
With many diverse performances each year and a unique style and vision for each show, our costume department always welcomes donations. If you have fabric and sewing supplies or period clothing and accesssories you would like to donate, please contact Sally Graff at (651) 452-6949 or sally.graff@theatreBHS.com.
SEWING SUPPLIES
As many of the on stage costumes are created specifically for each show, our costume shop is most often in need of simple fabrics and sewing supplies. While textiles can vary greatly, we request pieces not less than 2 yards. We can always use novelties in any color and shape, especially buttons and zippers (which surprisingly we have very little of!)
COSTUMES & CLOTHING
Most of our productions are period pieces and, therefore, most post 1950's clothing is unneeded. However, if you have other clothing or costumes in good condition with a style reflecting older periods, we would welcome more information.
Unfortunately, due to limited storage space, we must place limitations on all donations with regard to quality, volume and product. We appreciate your understanding and generosity and would welcome the opportunity to explore what you might have available.
