My name is Beylah and I started Weight Watchers on February 1, 2008.
I wasn't always overweight. Of course I was a pudgy baby with some serious chubby cheeks, but I guess at that age you can get away with being a little round thing! By the time I was in Junior High I actually was fairly thin, then puberty hit and I got hips and a butt! But it wasn't until High School that I started to gain weight. And really, the bulk of it was when I took a job Summer after my Junior year working at Noah's Bagels. I worked there for a little over three years (from 2002-2005) and must have gained well over 30 pounds in that time.
It's been over three years since I quit that job, but clearly it's much easier to gain weight without really realizing it than it is to lose it! I'd thought about trying to lose weight in the past, did some exercise classes, briefly tried South Beach Diet; but it wasn't until I joined WW that I actually have given losing weight and making some healthy lifestyle changes a serious shot.
Now I am excited to keep losing and to continue making some healthy changes in my life. Knowing that weight loss takes time, I am interested not only in losing weight physically, but losing some negativity I've had about myself and my body for far too long. WW, losing weight, and getting healthy is a process. And I fully intend to take this time to learn how to better take care of myself physically and emotionally, and hopefully create some healthy eating and exercise habits that I will use for life and take into the future with me.
That's really why I am doing WW- for my future. Someday I will be a bride, a wife, a mother, maybe even a grandmother. I want to ensure that I not only get to those places in my life, but that when I do I am healthy and happy. So getting healthy starts now.
I am slowly but surely heading to a goal weight that is appropriate for my age and height. In the meantime I am tracking all of my daily food intake, stepping up my game in terms of exercise, attending weekly WW meetings, taking advantage of the online message boards for advice and support, and getting a tremendous amount of support from my loved ones- particularly my adoring boyfriend and loving mom!
