Notes: The cuff is worked first, then the decorative stitches are worked into the foundation chain opposite the ribbed stitches. Chain-2 stitches at the beginning of each round on the palm count as a stitch.


Materials: Medium Worsted weight yarn about 3 oz of white (MC), a few yards of green for the leaves(LC), and a few yards of a bright yarn for the flowers (FC). Size I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook.


Gauge: 15 dc = 4inches

Size: Woman’s Large. (7.5-8 “ around palm). You can use a smaller hook for a smaller size.


Special Stitches:

Front Post Double crochet (FPDC): Yo and insert hook from the front to the back around the post of the dc on the previous row. (Yo draw through 2) twice.


Back Post Double crochet (BPDC): Yo and insert hook from the back to the front around the post of the dc on the previous row. (Yo draw through 2) twice.


V stitch (V): (Dc, ch 1, dc) in one stitch.


Three- double crochet cluster (3-dc cl): (Yo insert hook in ch-1 space, draw up a loop. YO and draw through 2) three times in same ch-1 space. Yo and draw through all 4 loops.


Sc Decrease: draw up a loop in each of the next 2 stitches, yo and draw through all 3 loops.


Cuff:

Leaving at least a 6- inch tail, Ch 30. (Do not work over tail. It will be used later)


Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across. Slip st in first dc. (28 dc)


Round 2: Ch 2, *FPDC around next dc, BPDC around next dc. Repeat from * around. (Your last stitch should be a FPDC.) Sl st in first FPDC. (Beginning chain counts as a BPDC through out the cuff.)


Rounds 3-6: Ch 2, *FPDC around next FPDC, BPDC around next BPDC. Repeat from * around. (Your last stitch should be a FPDC.) For rounds 3-5 only, Sl st st in first FPDC.


At the end of round 6, Sl st in top of ch-2. Sl st in first FPDC. Break off yarn. Turn piece over with foundation chain on top. Using the tail, Stitch the gap between the first and last dc of row1 together.


Round 7: (Work into foundation chain): Join MC into any chain stitch. Ch 1, skip first ch, sc in each ch around. Join with a sl st in first sc. (27 sc) break off MC.


Flower rows:

Leaf round: With LC, Starting with a slip knot on the hook, join with a dc in any sc. Ch 1, dc in same sc. *Skip 2 sc, V in next sc. Repeat from * around. Sl st in the first dc. Break off LC. (9 V stitches.)


Petal round: With FC, Starting with a slip knot on the hook, join with a 3-dc cl in any ch-1 space of a V. *Ch 2, 3-dc cl in next V. Repeat from * around. Ch 2, sl st in first cluster. Break off FC. (9 flowers)


Palm:

Round 1: With MC, Starting with a slip knot on the hook, join with a sc in any cluster st. *2 sc in next ch space, sc in next cluster. Repeat from * around. 2 sc in last ch-2 space. Sl st in first sc. (27 sc)


Round 2: Ch 2, (counts as a dc) dc in each sc around. Sl st in top of ch-2. (27 dc)


Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining (2 sc in next dc) 2 times (thumb gusset), sc in each dc around. Sl st in first sc. (29 sc)


Round 4: Repeat round 2. (29 dc)


Round 5: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in each dc around. Sl st in first sc. (29 sc)


Round 6: (Thumb opening round) Ch 5, skip 3 sc (counts as dc and ch-3 space), dc in each sc around, sl st in 2nd ch of beginning ch-5. (26 dc)


Round 7: Ch 1, sc in same ch as joining, 3 sc in ch-3 space, sc in each dc around. Sl st in first sc. (29 sc)


Round 8: Ch 2, dc in each sc around. Sl st in top of ch-2. (29 dc)


Round 9: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, (sc decrease) twice, sc in next 11 sc, sc decrease, sc in 11 dc. Sl st in first sc. (27 sc)


Round 10: Ch 2, dc in each sc around. Sl st in top of ch-2. (27 dc)


Round 11: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in each dc around. Sl st in first sc. (27 sc)


Finish off. Hide tails.
