Part 1!

I love robots. I really don't know why I love them so much. But ever since I was a little kid, I would pay attention to anything featuring these Sci-Fi mainstays. And so, I decided to make the list of the robots I think are the best. Of course, my opinion may not be the same as yours. But, please, no threats. Now, on to the list:

50.IG-88 (Star Wars)
This robot was one of the bounty hunters summoned by Darth Vader to track down Han Solo and the others in 'The Empire Strikes Back', and while he had about 5 seconds of screen time while that attention whore Boba Fett got the spotlight, I'm sure somewhere in the expanded universe, he has a kickass backstory.

49.B.A.T. (G.I.Joe: Real American Hero)
Like any good evil organizaion, COBRA keeps a good stock of mechanical warriors so they can do all the work while the humans sit back and drink fine wine. And while the Battle Android Troopers don't have any better aim with their lasers than any of COBRA's human soldiers, atleast they can rebuild themselves if they ever get hit.

48.King Kong Robot (King Kong Escapes!)
When the Japanese made King Kong into a Kaiju, they of course had to give him a robotic counterpart to trade blows with. And, really, who can go wrong with a giant robot monkey? No one.

47.Robot Bill & Ted (Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey)
In the epic sequel to 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure', pre-Matrix Keannu Reeves and whoever the hell played the other guy are killed by evil robotic clones. So, once they get back to the land of the living, using the scientific and mechanical genius of a big alien they met in Heaven, they use parts found at a discount store to build good robot clones, who ultimately defeated the evil robots.

46.Mazinger Z
Also known as Tranzor Z, Go Nagai's creation was the one of the most influential mecha ever, and was also one of the first to become popular outside Japan.

45.Roboto (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe)
Of course He-Man has a robot. buddy. Much like the other 'Masters of the Universe', Roboto didn't prove much use in the never ending battle against Skeletor, he can atleast be proud that his original toy was made with translucent plastic so we can see his insides.

44.B.O.B., V.I.N.Cent, and Maximillian (The Black Hole)
These three robots were featured in the cult favorite Disney film from the 70's (the first Disney film to ever be rated PG). A robot very similar to V.I.N.Cent and B.O.B. also makes an appearance in Sealab 2021.

43.Dreadnoughts (Marvel Comics)
These HYDRA-controlled, 8-foot tall robots were used to attempt to assassinate SHIELD leader Nick Fury. Massive strength + an awesome design makes one cool robot.

42.R.O.B.
This 'Robotic Operating Buddy' came bundled with every NES back in 1985 and assisted you in playing the games 'Gyromite' and 'Stack-Up', mostly by randomly pressing buttons on a controller. R.O.B. may have been a rather worthless, gimmicky accessory, but he's just too damn cool-looking to resist.

41.Robotman (DC comics)
A golden-age hero who got a tune-up in the silver-age, Robotman is now a former race car driver who died in a horrible crash and had his brain revived in a superstrong robot body, became all depressed, and joined DCs melancholy group the Doom Patrol. His character is best defined in Grant Morrison's run on the title from the early 90's.

40.H.E.R.B.I.E. (Fantastic Four cartoon)
When Hanna-Barbera decided to make a Fantastic four cartoon in the 70s, they made the precaution not to include Human Torch, fearing stupid kids might light themselves on fire. They replaced him this flying robot, a smartass comic foil to the Thing. He was introduced in the comics in the 80s as an evil minion of Dr.Sun, then he became a good guy.

39.K-9 (Dr.Who)
Introduced during the Tom Baker years, this hyper-intelligent robot dog became a permanent sidekick in Doctor's space and time adventures. Wouldn't having a walking computer who doubled as man's best friend be something everyone would want? Except cat lovers. Bastards.

38.KOS-MOS (Xenosaga)
If you're going to make ultra-powerful battle androids, its always a smart decision to make sure they're sexy as hell, for better, uh, combat performance? Either way, this gal's one the most powerful characters in Namco's RPG Xenosaga, even though you spend 80% of time in it watching cut-scenes.

37.Red Tornado (DC Comics)
This eco-Android created by evil scientist T.O.Morrow(!) defeated the entire JLA by himself. Afterwards, he reformed and joined the group. And thankfully, he shares very little with the Golden-Age Red Tornado(a fat housewife wearing a fondu pot as a helmet).

36.Awesome-O
I would include Honda's revolutionary robot prototype, but this seemed funnier.

35.The Cylon(Battlestar Galactica)
These evil robots are at constant war with the people of Earth as they attempt to destroy all biological civilizations. They also make cool helmets.

34.The Gundam (Gundam Series)
Shows like Mobile Suit Gundam introduced a generation of people to anime, and despite various alternate reality series, the basic blue-and-white mecha is constant throughout.

33.Manhunters (DC Comics)
Originally built by the Guardians of the Universe to serve as police, these robots, as most do, betrayed their masters and started their quest to destroy all life, forcing the Guardians to found the Green Lantern Corps. These guys get props for screwing with the DC Universe for so long, even if they did instigate 'Millenium'.

32.Crow T. Robot & Tom Servo (Mystery Science Theatre 3000)
These wisecracking robots are forced to live on a space station and watch a series of bad movies by the evil Dr.Forrester. However, they and whichever human is with them at the time save their sanity by making fun of the movies. Geek Gods, these two be.

31.Jet Jaguar (Godzilla Movies)
First teaming up with the G-man to fight the ancient bug Megalon, this remote-controlled warrior(obviously inspired by Ultraman) has become a favorite among Kaiju fans.

30.Zero (Mega Man X Series)
What is it about the blond-haired robot partner to X that makes him so appealing? Because he looks like a punk rocker? Because he sacrificed his own life to save his buddy, and then came back? Or because he wields a bad-ass laser sword? Why am I asking you?

29.BS9 Robot (Lost in Space)
'Danger! Danger will family Robinson!" is a line that's been remembered for 40 years, brought to you by this robot assistant from Lost in Space. He's one of the most classic robot designs ever, inspired by 50's robot mainstay Robby.

28.The Big O
What if Batman, instead of dressing in a black costume, fought crime in a giant robot? That'd be Big O, a popular anime that was one of Adult Swim's first. Even if it's pilot is incapactiated, the Big O just keeps on fighting.

27.Amazo (DC comics)
An android built by the evil(what else?) Professor Ivo, Amazo has the combined powers of every member of the Justice League, making him one of their greatest threats. While some still like the old vulcan-eared, shirtless comic Amazo, I prefer the near-omnipotent one featured in the 'Justice League' animated series.

26.Robo (Chrono Trigger)
From the year 2300 AD, a bleak future caused by the ravaging being Lavos is 1999, Robo was dormant in one of the many Dome's scattered all over the land until he was fixed and reactivated by secondary character Lucca. Wanting to change the past so the future would be bright, Robo brought his great physical strength and laser weapons to your party, becoming one of it's strongest members.
