A: BESTY is the Youth Group for Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester. The name BESTY stands for Beth El Senior Temple Youth. It is the sister group to BEMSY, the Beth El Middle School Youth Group, and Club 5/6, the temple's youngest group.
q: who runs besty?
A: BESTY is completely run by the high school members of Temple Beth El, however, Jesse Paikin and Rabbi Geoff Mitelman are the advisors of the group. For more information on Jesse Paikin or Rabbi Mitelman, check out the leadership page!
q: how can i join the besty board?
A: At the end of each school year, BESTY has a final event where they hold their elections for the following school year. Anyone who will be entering 9th-12th grade are eligible to run for office. Information regarding the election process is sent home to all eligible students who belong to Temple Beth El in May.
q: besty gets to go on a lot of nifty trips, how can they afford them?
A: All of the trips are funded by the Youth Group. They engage in different types of fund raising activities varying from car washes to the sales of clothing. The members of BESTY then spend their hard-earned cash on many trips throughout the year open to any member of Temple Beth El who is in high school.
