STATION 109: proudly protects 2,500 people living in an area of 1.5 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects 2 suburban communities.
Station 109 is an all volunteer fire company located approximately 6 miles north of the city of Pittsburgh, on Rt. 65 in Southwestern PA. We were organized in 1892. Ben Avon operates 1 engine and 1 heavy rescue. We run approximately 130 fire calls a year. We provide mutual aid to 8 departments in the surrounding area for fire and rescue services. Ben Avon V.F.C. also provides RIT services (along with Sta. 148 Emsworth) to approximately 8 other area departments. We along with Stowe Twp. provide RIT services to the Pittsburgh International Airport. We have an ISO rating of 5.
