July 2005 The Galleries Of Justice Investigation

The Believe Team have been visiting the Galleries Of Justice, which is meant to be one of the most haunted buildings in the Uk. The Team were joined by Karl Windridge and his Team (UKPS - UK Paranormal Study) and members of the public.

There were only three Believe members investigating the galleries as there would be too many people in the building if all members came along.

The 'Believe' Investigators - What did they think before going?

The entrance hall

Chris Thomas, "Galleries of Justice is an awesome place. So many other investigations have taken place here in the past, and many teams have come out with some fantastic results. It's going to be interesting being with the Karl and the Ukps team, and of course the public. We have never done an investigation like this before so I'm very much looking forward to it".

George Hallows, "Well the Galleries is a fantastic place, so many people have experienced so much phenomena here. The place is amazing, it has so many places to investigate, and the place where I want to investigate has to be the caves, because I've heard a lot of things do take place down there".

Phil Pocknee, "This place is the best location I've been to so far. So much History, and many ghost stories. Im looking forward to meeting Karl and see him work, and also looking forward to investigating some of the hotspots, like the caves, pits, and the cells. This is going to be one excellent night, im sure of it".

A Quick History Lesson

The Galleries of Justice claims to be one of the most haunted locations in Great Britain. Over the centuries many people have entered the building with the sense of fright.

The corridor to the cells

There has been a court there since at least 1375 and a prison since 1449. The Galleries contains the original cells, dungeons, 2 courtrooms, and medieval caves.

It is the only place in Britain where you could be tried, convicted, and sentenced. Some executions were even done at the entrance of the building. With all punishments such as whipping, imprisonment, and executions, there going to be lots of tormented souls that's are still lingering around the building.

Paranormal Locations in the Building

Entrance Hall - There is meant to be three ghosts that roam here, a Victorian gentleman, a soldier, and a lady. Many people have also felt cold spots.

Who was walking the balcony?

The Court Room - Apparently very active. So many people have heard knocking sounds, and terrifying groans. Also many people have seen black figures on the balcony. On many investigations that have taken place, people have caught many orbs on camera/camcorders.

Cell Corridor - Many people have heard lots of strange noises, including footsteps, doors slamming, and the sound of keys rattling.

The laundry room

The Laundry Room - A very active place. People have smelt strange smells, and the door at one time slammed open. Orbs have also been picked up on camera.

Courtyard/ exercise yard - Bodies are buried underneath the ground of the yard. Many people have witnessed and experienced strange sensations, and have also seen dark figures. People have also once again caught orbs on their camera.

The Caves/ Chapel - This part of the Galleries is meant to be the most haunted part. So many people have experienced phenomena down there. A cross is sometime thrown across the room. Noises and bangs have been heard. People have been touched, and stones have been thrown at people.

The scary pits

The Pits - These are a very scary place to be. Many people have felt very sick, and have had to leave the building. People have been touched and footsteps have been heard. Also dark shadows have been seen on many occasions.

The Investigation And Other Investigators

Karl Windridge is a well-experienced medium and paranormal investigator. Chris is very sceptical about mediums, so he was very interested to see and find out more about mediumship.

There was also Carolyn and Will who were going to help us out with the investigation. Both from the Uk paranormal study team.

We started off the investigation by going to the Court Room.

The court is a very active place. Many people have seen figures on the balconies so we kept an eye on the courts higher-level areas.

We had just started the investigation when Chris and Phil heard some creaking noises coming from the balcony. It happened on many occasions, and some of the public heard the noises as well, but we weren't sure if that was just from the building cooling down, and the wood was creaking. The weird thing was that as soon as we went up there, there was no more creaking.

Karl Windridge

It was about 15 minutes into the investigation when Karl got over-come by a spirit. This spirit was 'William Saville' who was a rapist and a murder. He even raped his own family. This spirit was a very evil, and you could tell!

Karl began to become very horrible, and began throwing map scrolls at George. He also tried to grab Chris and Phil, and shout at us. This did frighten us, but the worst thing was that Karl's face actually had changed as if someone had smeared into his body and created another head shape. This was all caught on camcorder but we couldn't take a photo of him because of the flashes, which can make the spirit very upset. Karl's forehead had changed and his face. It was bizarre.

Noises were also heard on numerous occasions when all this was going on. Chris also heard the rattling of keys, and one of the public thought he saw a black figure on the balcony. The two courtrooms are fantastic places to investigate.

What Next

After the Courtroom investigation, the Believe Team where amazed in what they had just seen. Karl had convinced Chris, and that's something that is really hard to do. He was shocked in what he saw.

The Believe Team then split up into groups, Phil and Mule went into the night Cell, and Chris went down into caves.

The Caves

Chris met up with another Ukps team member - Andy Wainwright. We made our way through the chapel into the caves. Chris was feeling very cold, but Andy was beginning to burn up. We where then joined by Michael Judd (manager/owner Galleries) and some of the public members.

We all went down to the bottom of the caves where many things did happen. People thought that they were getting touched, cold spots were felt, aching pains, and orbs where seen. Sadly nothing happened to Chris when he was down there, will his time come?

Night Cell

The night cell

George and Phil were joined by Will and 3 other members of the public. Will became very irritated by an evil man, and got very uncomfortable. George became very cold, and just as he said he was cold, a huge flash was seen by everyone. They went to check if it was anyone with a camera, but nobody was there.
A few noises were caught on camera, but they could be easily explained.

Mule and Phil also went into the cell corridor, and heard a few noises as if someone was banging a wall.

We then went up for a break, and discussed what had happened. All of us hadn't really experienced anything since the courts, so we where a little apprehensive in what was going to happen next.

After the break, Chris and George went into the Laundry Room with Carolyn and Will. Phil went to the pits with Karl and some of the others.

Laundry Room

We first went into the room, and it seemed very peaceful and quiet. We waited quietly for about 15 minutes, when Chris suddenly smelt something next to him. He said it smelt like something really old and musty. Will then said that it was a spirit called 'Roof'. The smell then disappeared, and the room became a little colder.

Is this spirit light, or just dust? This photo was taken when my arm was being touched was it coincidence, or was it Roof?

Roof apparently loves male people and is very attracted to them so hopefully we could catch something here. Will said to Carolyn that Roof was walking towards me, and started to rub my arm. As soon as Carolyn said that, my arm became like static, as if I was touching a TV. It happened for about 10 seconds, and then I could feel the static going up and down my arm as if something was actually rubbing it. It was weird but fantastic.

Caroline and Will left George and Chris in the room. Chris asked if someone could knock on the wall and something did. Chris got his nose flicked and a breathing/groan noises was picked up twice on camera. There was also a flash seen near the door, as soon as George investigated it, it was freezing cold.

Pits

Phil went to the pits to see if Karl could pick up on anything down there. Some of the investigators heard what sounded like a girl screaming, and Phil actually picked up an orb moving in between Karl. Karl again was over-come by William and became very active.

Trying again to grab Phil, so Carolyn and Will went to help him. Karl did become very scary, and kept on trying to get Phil. They tried to get Karl out of that area. He apparently wanted Phil and Carolyn, so they had to be careful for the rest of the night.

Chris and George went down into the pits. They joined Carolyn and Will. Nothing really happened for around 25 minutes. Carolyn then mentioned that she could feel a cold spot near her knees. Chris switched places with her and ever so often could feel a cold spot.

He checked the door and couldn't feel any draft at all so it was quite bizarre. We also heard loud footsteps. At the time we didn't really think much of them until we remembered that there were motion sensors down so Chris went outside to have a look. Another group heard them as well and saw no one there. Footsteps were also caught on camera and dictaphone.

Chris then left one of the condemned men's cells and went into another one on his own. George stayed near the pit area, to see if he could see anything.

I felt very comfortable, and didn't feel spooked at all. When watching the clips at home I noticed that I actually picked up 2 bright orbs. Around about 10 minutes later he heard what sounded like a huge thud on the wall in the room. He then heard an even bigger next to the dummy that was next to him. You can then tell that Chris was scared as you can see the camera view beginning to shake. He was glad to come out of there.

Galleries Tour

Meanwhile Phil went on his own, going to different places. He started off near the entrance hall. He stayed here for a while but didn't hear or see anything. It was deadly silent.

He then made his way through to the cell corridor. He began to hear a thumping noise, as if something was following him. He kept of walking towards more of the transportation cells and corridors.

He stayed there for a while but again nothing happened. He then decided to take up the courage and go into the chapel and caves.

He made his way down into the caves with a torch and his camera. Remember that this William Saville haunts the caves mostly, and William is after Phil.
Phil then began to call out, to get William to show himself. Unfortunately nothing happened so Chris and George went to join him.

We stayed in there for a while trying to get William to do something. Suddenly a stone was thrown which hit the pillar next to Phil, as if something tried to hit him.
Phil then made his way up to find Karl, which left Chris and George in the caves.

John and Toni who are also apart of the UKPS team then joined Chris and George. Some of the other investigators also came.

As soon as everyone got in there everyone except Chris heard what sounds like something making a huge groan. This was also caught on camera. George then turned around to tell me what they heard when a stone was thrown at a wall next to him.

Around 5 minutes later Chris and George heard someone giggle which was right next to them. This was also caught on camera. The caves at this point seemed very active, and we where hoping for more. Sadly after this nothing happened so we all went upstairs for a break.

Meanwhile we met back up with Phil who also experienced nothing.

Back To The Caves

Are those orbs?

We then went back down into the caves to see if we could catch any more phenomena. Carolyn and Will joined us this time.

Chris and John (UKPS) then left the caves towards the chapel area with some of the public. Chris heard what sounds like a little scream but sadly this happened when some people where going out of the chapel so it could have been one of them.

Phil went with Karl into the caves where again the spirit William overcame him. He began giving sand to everyone and even threw some at one person. Karl again was becoming very terrifying, so Carolyn tried to get Karl out, which she did in the end.

Chris in the Courtyard

Chris went to the courtyard on his own for a while to see if he could catch anything. For some reason he found that this place scared him the most. William Savilles gravestone was on one of the walls, which made him even more spooked.

In the end nothing happened but Chris was so scared that he had to get out of the place as quickly as possible.On the way back he met up back with George and Phil. They decided to revisit the Courtroom.

Courtroom

The Believe Team decided to do their last investigation in the courtroom. Chris began calling out, 'If there's any spirits here, please show yourself.'

There were some faint noises that were heard from the balconies, like creaks and small tapping noises.
On the way out something was thrown that hit the doorway, but we couldn't find the object anywhere.

It had been a hard night, and everyone was tired. We decided to call the investigation a night.

Conclusion

Overall the Galleries of Justice is fantastic place, which is definitely haunted. So much happened on the night. At home we need to analyse the footage the best we can, but at this very moment a lot of the events that happened are unexplainable.

A great night, and the best investigation so far.

April 2005 COLEBY GRANGE W.W.II Control Tower

Coleby Grange W.W.II Control Tower is just one of many old towers seen littering the Lincolnshire landscape. Many of these remote buildings are reputed to be haunted by airmen. Written by Chris Thomas The team watch the sun set over Coleby Grange...

At Coleby Grange such a phantom exists. He is usually seen on the top floor gazing mournfully across the overgrown runway. One may also experience the drone of long gone bombers. A living monument still alive with memories?

Phil Pocknee- The stairs with pain. Many years ago on an alert, a man fell down the stairs and cracked his head open, and died. Would we feel the Pain?

Other Ghost stories include a phantom who looks out of the window, footsteps heard on the top corridor and stones that have been thrown at people when looking in from the outside.

People have felt head-pains near the stairs area and voices have been heard. Many people have heard bangs, and unusual noises.

The Investigation

Not so scary during the day!

The Control Tower is the only building still standing and it has turned derelict, so we knew that this was going to be a very long and cold night. It was the first derelict location for the Believe Team, so we were very apprehensive in what was going to happen.

So the Control Tower began to get very dark, and started to get very eerie. Some of us began to get very nervous.

What Was Said On The Night!

Mule - "This has to be one of the scariest places I've ever been to with 'The Believe Team'. You know it's derelict, it doesn't feel comfortable, so I got a feeling that this is going to be one scary evening."

Phil - "Earlier today I was feeling OK, but now I'm actually really excited"

Chris Thomas - "Basically now, I'm actually really freaked out, because earlier me, Lester and Seki heard some thuds, and at the moment we can't explain them, but apart from that I can't wait, and hopefully something will happen".

Investigation Timeline

9.30 PM - Chris, George, Phil hear a crack against a wall.

9.48 PM - Phil felt as if something was behind him, and also heard a rustling sound.

10.01 PM Three members saw a big light.

Cameraman - Seki Dave

10.36 PM - Seki thought he heard a brick moving.

10.45 PM - Something was thrown at Chris, George and Nick, and was caught on camera. It looked like a rock was aimed at us.

11.45 PM - Chris and Phil do double vigil upstairs. Chris first hears something hit a wall. 30 seconds later Chris and Phil hear what sounded like something hitting the floor with force. Both noises caught on Camera.

11.55 PM - Other members join Chris and Phil. While going upstairs, Lester feels something touch his leg, and Mule and Nick see a Red light at the same time.

12.45 AM - Chris, Phil, and Dave are upstairs when all of a sudden a huge bang comes out from nowhere, which till this day is unexplainable.

We first of all split into groups, but then Lester suddenly stopped us and said that he had something weird on his digital camera.

Weird things caught on camera - or is their a rational explanation?

This Picture is very unusual, since we caught some mist on his camera, but if you look carefully you can see, that there are also some orbs in the picture as well.

The person who is sitting down is Seki, but at that exact same time Nick and Chris heard a strange noise coming from the other room next to it. Is this paranormal or is it just a coincidence? You decide.

Opinions of Picture

Chris Thomas (Believer) - "I think this picture is fascinating, because we have never got anything like this before. I've only seen it on other paranormal groups' sites. It is known as Ectoplasm Mist. We are sure that this is something."

George Hallows (Parapsychologist) - "The first thing that came into my head was that it could have been someone breathing next to the camera when the picture was taken. But we have to rule that out because during the investigation we did test, what would come up when we did breath when taking a photo, and nothing was there at all. It also could be maybe someone moving on the rubble on the floor, which creates a dust affect, but I must admit, if you look at the picture it doesn't look like that at all."

Phil Pocknee - "From a quick study of the nature of the mist I find it hard for it to be any kind of breathing. The strange swirling pattern seems to make that idea unlikely. I don't like to jump to the conclusion that this some kind of effect of something paranormal but I do personally believe this is related to something ghostly."

This photo was taken when Rob thought he got touched near the stairs area.

George was next to him when this happened, and he told Chris Thomas that he thought he saw a red light when this happened. This shot was taken after it.

As you can see there is a small red light in the corridor. The Believe Team have never seen anything like this before. Was Mule witnessing a red light at the same time a coincidence?

Opinions Of This Picture

Chris Thomas (Believer) - "This picture is very exciting, because I remember myself seeing the entire group scream into the room, and George saying that he saw a red light. That was told to me before the picture was taken. Then actually seeing Rob take a picture after it, and seeing a red light (orb), is very exciting. The phenomena links very well."

George Hallows - (Parapsychologist) - "This is a very interesting one because I actually witnessed this light myself. And seeing Lester take a photo with a red orb is truly fascinating. You could put it down to be a bug of a moth, but this investigation took place during the middle of winter, so there are not many moths or bugs around."

This picture shows the basic orbs, which people get in haunted Locations.

As you can see there is a rather big orb near the top of the ceiling.

These Paranormal lights are known as orbs, and they are meant to be one of the first stages of a ghost manifestation. They are normally caught in supposedly haunted Locations. What do you think?

Opinions Of This Picture

Chris Thomas (Believer) - "These types of orbs I'm not so sure on, since sometimes I have taken photos in my house and have got orbs in my house. In this case I think it is very weird since we have never got an orb like this on a digital camera before. We've got them camcorders but not on digital, which makes me very apprehensive about these certain types of orbs."

George Hallows (Parapsychologist) - "This orb is very large, but unfortunately it could be just down to dust. The orb is in a very weird place (near the ceiling), so I personally think it is dust. There are also other smaller orbs near it, which makes me think even more that it is only dust particles, but I might be wrong."

This Picture was actually taken by our Parapsychologist, George Hallows, and at the time that it was taken, a number of the crew actually heard some strange noises.

Opinion of Picture

Chris Thomas (Believer) - "This is orb is awesome because it's just one light on its own, and there are no other lights except this one, which I think counts as a spirit light."

George Hallows (Parapsychologist) - "I think this orb is one of the better ones. There is only one light anomaly so like Chris said, it can't really count as dust that much, because with dust there is normally other light with it."

Phil Pocknee - "This picture is nothing but fascinating. I am really excited about this picture; this really fills me with hope. I did have doubts about orbs and of the lights picked up in the past but this one ball does seem to look good. I believe that chances of this being connected with something paranormal are huge. But judge for yourselves."

Conclusion

Overall as The Believe Team we thought the investigation went well and deserves another investigation in the future.

Magna Carta Pub

 Magna Carta Pub - The building was first first built in the 1700's. It has been a pub for 60 years, and since then, there has been lots of Paranormal Activity. In this investigation there was a lot of Orbs. We still dont know till this day if the lights were Paranormal, but they are very interesting to look at. Phil Pocknee also did his own vidual in the top floor, and witnessed the table moving on Camera. Sam Richardson and Rob Lester also thought at the same time that they saw a figure behind Chris during the investigation.

Black Horse Chambers

The Black horse Chambers is a fantastic pub, with good food, and a good place to drink, but it holds a dark secret. At one point the pub had up to 48 ghosts. They had to get an exorcist in which got rid of most the ghosts, which now leaves only about 5 left in the kitchen, which are very active. Seances have been held there before, in which the ghost decided to brake the glass of the fire and set the fire and burglar alarm off at the same time. The Pub has a ghost called Julian who is the most active ghost, who haunts the kitchen with the rest of his family. Chris and Lester decided to investigate. Lester saw a huge orb goe across Chris which was caught on camera.Both of them heard loud bangs and raps. The best evidence was on the locked of camera, where they caught many orbs and a huge cracking sound.

Conclusion - A very good investigation, and there is something strange going on in the black horse Chambers.

Greestone Place/Steps

The Greestone steps is the oldest part of Lincoln, so there is bound to be some sort of paranormal activity, and there sure is.There is so many ghost stories and experiences which have happenend here, which is why we had to come and investigate the steps. We investigated the steps 3 times, because on all 3 occasions something weird occured. On the first time, all the crew felt cold, and orbs where seen under the arch way on many occasions.These were picked up on digital cameras and Camcorders. On the second night, a huge crack on the bar next to Rob, and Mule was picked up which was very unexplainable. Orbs and footsteps were also heard. On the third night nothing much happenend except an orb on a digital camera.

Active Place - Under the Arch Way

Conclusion - Greestone has a lot of History, and we still think its a place with memories. A good palce to visit!

Lion and Snake

The Lion and Snake was a bvery interesting place. The main area we investigated was the celler, were a roman soldier is ment to roam. They nicked name the soldier 'Henry', and many of the staff had seen him on many occasions. During the investion we did wintess many differetn noises, and we did hear something knocking on the door, when there was no one there. Phil Pocknee also thought he heard something say ' Fire'. Lee also thought he got touched, and Chris and Phil heard whisper during a seance.There was so much going on in the celler, but was it paranormal?, we dont know.

Conclusion - A very intreguing investigation, and was worth the experience. Also thanks to Andy hook who was there during all times in the celler.

Lincoln Castle

Lincoln Castle was a very interesting place, we didnt do an investigation there for very long, but we did manage to get some werid unexplainable phenomena on camera. Chris had a bit of scare, because when he was practising his lines/Interview with Seki, the prison chapel door opened up. There was no rashinal explanation. There was no draft, and it did take some force to open the door up. Other things happened to the team as well, which was normally siturated in Cobb Hall. Many of the group heard noises, and a stone was thrown or fell close to us.Chris had a scare when he thought he saw a shadow, but turned out to be someone crossing the light outside the castle.Also a good orb was caught as well.

Active Place - Cobb Hall

Conclusion - A good location, but personally we dont think its that haunted.. but a fantastic palce to visit.

Lincoln - 1 Investigation - 3 locations - Greestone Place,Castle Square,Cathedral

This is one of the most exciting investigations, because we were visiting 3 locations in one night. We first went to the Greestone steps were we had been before, and we caight a few orbs on camera. Chris Thomas decided to stay on his own underneath the arch. He was there for about 15 minutes, and on his way back up to see how the other teams were doing, he heard a huge crack on the ground behind him, as if something had tried to thrown something at him. Mean while at the cathedral nothing happened at all, and at castle square all that was picked up was Chris falling over on the road.

Most Acitive Place - Greestone terrace

Conclusion - A good palce to investigate, probably best to do it on a warmer day. But overall we got something out of it.

Scothern Farm House

We had been called in by the owners, because of some paranormal activity going on recently. Many things had been seen by the family living there, but the main source of phenomena are banging noises in the old barn house. We decided to investigate in there first, and have a look around the place. It wasnt long until George thought he saw something in the corner of the room. A huge bright orb was caught on camera at the same time. Chris had a bit of a fright as well, when he thought he got touched, but turned out to be a piece of string hanging from the ceiling. George went up to the top of the farm house, and as soon as he got to the top of the stairs two loud bangs were heard ; still dont know what they are.

Conclusion - A really enjoyable investigation, and we think there is something deffinitly going on in the farm, but is it paranormal, we dont know.

Ermine Road - Roman Road

We decided to visit Ermine road, which is repeatly been haunted by romans. Ermine Road goes through Raf Scampton, but carrys on outside the camp on both sides. We decided to go to Ermine Road(Rabbit Road), which is on the south side of the base. Seki and Chris started off by going into the field, were they began to here some rattling noises, which was coming from the fence. Lee also thought he saw an orb, but we are still not sure what it is. After an hour nothing much was happening, until Seki and Chris was walking back, when some made a huge thud on the ground next to us. It sounded like a horses hoof, but there was nothing there. Does that link in with the roman and his chariot that is ment to haunt the road?

Conclusion - Not the best investigation, but once again you have always got to check it out, unfortently nothing happened when we were there.

Welton 'Rednill' Stables

Welton Stables was one of the first investigations we ever did. It was done way back in 2003, and Chris and George went to investigate. There has been many photographs taken, which have had unexplainable mists which no one can understand. Chris and George went to the very back stable and decided to stick around there for a little while. Little did we know but when edting the episode we caught something moving near one of the stables, which looks like a figure of some sort, walking towards the stable. Chris and George were the only ones round so it was a little unerving when looking bak on it. There was also an orb caught in one of the stables but it does look like more of an insect to us.

Conclusion - Good first investigation, shame we didnt see the figure during the investigation. That could of been some good evidence.
