My first Belgian Shepherd was a Groenendael called Ziggy - Atlas Sunset, Sirius de Ciel x Zellik Bracken of the Valley. He is now 11 years old and has retired from showing and obedience.  He is still my constant companion at home.

I now have 2 Malinois girls called Daisy and Vienna, a Border Collie called Ringo and 2 Swedish Vallhunds that I co-own with my daughter Samantha, they are Daz and Chresta.

Ziggy was lightly shown as i bought him and trained him for obedience, but he still showed well.

Daisy, vienna, Ringo, Daz and Chresta have excelled in the show ring taking both me and my daughter to Crufts every year since 2003.  Daz & Chresta were featured on Pastoral day by the BBC heading the Pastoral day coverage.

If you are looking for  a dog that will sleep all day, wont get you out for walks in all weathers, wont require grooming and wouldnt even look at an agility course, then these AREN'T the breeds for you.

Belgian Shepherds, Border Collies and Swedish Vallhunds all fall under the group heading of 'Pastoral'.  This is the herding group of dogs and were bred for many years to herd cattle and sheep.  Because of this they are used to working alongside and in partnership with man.  Whatever dog sport you decide to enter into any of these breeds will be ideally suited to.

If you are unsure about anything on the site or would like to discuss whether any of these breeds would be suited to your lifestyle then please go to my contacts page.
