Kabocha is een zeer variabel type uit Japan. Deze zaden leveren (waarschijnlijk) middelgrote, donkergroene vruchten met kleine pukkeltjes. Verkleurt tijdens de opslag naar oranje.

Winterhard in: zones 8-9-10-11 (0 Celsius)

Zaai-instructies: Zaai apr-mei (binnen). Kiemt in 5-7 dagen bij 21-25 Celsius. Leg zaden op hun kant.

Plant-instructies: Heeft véél voeding, water en zon nodig voor de beste vruchten.



Kabocha is the general name for several different types of Japanese winter squash. Green skinned, orange skinned, beige… small, large, tender, crisp… kabocha comes in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors. These seeds will, most probably, produce midsized dark green fruits that may be a little warped. They change to orange during storage.

Sowing instructions: Sow April to May 2cm deep in 7.5cm pots of good seed compost at 21-25 Celsius. Place in a propagator or seal container in a polythene bag until after germination which takes 5-7 days. Can also be sown direct outdoors once the soil has warmed. Do not sow in cold soils. Sow 2 seeds every 90cm and thin out to the best seedling. Ideally grow under cloches until the plant is established

Planting instructions: Pumpkin plants needs lots of water and feeding! They love a sunny spot too!
