I am healing so well!! My doctor said that I should not have any lasting effects from my injury!
I have a sponsor now too!!
Debbie Patterson of California, Maryland has sponsored me!! Debbie even came up to visit me!! I feel very special! I've come such a long way from being on that feedlot in Colorado!!
Read my story below.........
This precious baby was sitting at a feedlot in Colorado awaiting a slaughter truck with a severe injury to her hind leg. She was barely able to help herself, and laid on the ground licking her wound like a dog. Through an intense middle of the night rescue effort with the help & support of many caring individuals, we managed to get in touch with 2 wonderful rescue organizations in Colorado to assist us. Amber from Shiloh Acres, who first sent out the S.O.S. for this filly - and Floss from Denkai Sanctuary, who was of immediate and great assistance to us. Shiloh Acres left the next day to pull her off of the feedlot and is kindly housing Trinity until she is well enough to transport here to Maryland. Shiloh Acres had her off of the feedlot by 4PM and a veterinarian out to examine, clean, pack and wrap the wound by 6PM Colorado time! Thank you so very much Amber and Shiloh Acres!! If it weren't for the concern and help of everyone who helped coordinate this effort, this young filly would have been crammed into a truck, barely able to stand, and shipped for hours to a slaughter plant. I can't imagine that she would have been able to stand for long in there, and probably would have ended up trampled before she arrived at her sad destination.
Trinity's recovery is going to be a long one. She will require a tremendous amount of care to help heal her wound, as well as antibiotics to curb any infection. She also has an upper respiratory illness that we're hoping the antibiotics will help to clear. Once Trinity is ok for traveling, she will be transported here to Celtic Rein to continue her rehabilitation with the help of our veterinarian, Russ Jacobson. Everyone is looking forward to her arrival and we will continue to update our website on her progress while in Colorado, and when she comes to Celtic Rein. We love you Trinity, and your suffering is now over sweet girl!
Trinity's recovery, shipping and continued rehabilitation is going to be long and quite a financial burden. This young filly deserves a chance at life as all she has known in her short time on earth is confusion, pain and suffering. Rest assured Trinity, those days are now over! Love, care and happiness await you in Maryland. If you would like to help with our efforts of rehabilitating this filly -

Trinity was examined by our vet, Dr. Russell Jacobson, on Thursday evening - he removed proud flesh from both legs, and did all of our normal intake procedures. We are all very impressed with the care she received at Shiloh Acres before coming to us, as her wounds have healed a great deal since we first saw the pictures! The cut is now 14 inches long and 3 inches wide with a good amount of healing taking place. She is anemic and is on vitamins to assist with getting her red blood count up to where it belongs. We will pull another CBC in a few weeks to re-check. Dr. Jacobson said it will be a long time, but he feels she will make a full recovery!! She is now allowed to be turned out in the small grass paddock for a few hours in the morning and at night, which she is just thrilled with!
Besides her leg injuries, this poor baby has bite marks, kick marks and cuts and scars on her legs, back, face and flanks. We don't even want to think about what her short life must have entailed before being pulled off of the feedlot. It is very obvious that it wasn't nice. We promised Trinity that her days of suffering, fright and pain are now over forever and that only happiness and love are ahead. She seemed to understand. Thank you to all who have helped this filly - she is the sweetest little thing and still has a little sparkle in her eyes even after all she's been through.
UPDATE 4-26-06 9:55 PM - I just spoke to Carol ( the wonderful woman who offered to transport Trinity all the way from Colorado to Maryland) and they are about 2 hours out!! As soon as they hit Baltimore, they are going to call back and will then be about 20-25 minutes out!! She is doing wonderful!! Pictures will be posted in the morning!!

UPDATE 4-25-06 - Trinity will be leaving Colorado early this morning (Tuesday 4-25-06) to head east to us here at Celtic Rein Rescue & Sanctuary in Maryland!! She is in great spirits and will have a whole comfortable trailer to herself! They should arrive to us very late Wednesday night or very early Thursday morning. We have everything ready for the little angel filly - she will feel as if she's staying in a 5 star hotel!! A Pink halter, pink leadrope, pink buckets and tons of treats, love and admirers are awaiting her! The camera is ready and rearing to go, so check back often for updated pictures of Trinity's arrival!! I will post more updates as we hear from them on the road - please say a prayer that all have a very safe and comfortable trip!!
Our sincerest thanks to all who have helped save this precious baby's life!!
UPDATE 4-23-06 - Trinity is feeling better still! If all goes according to plans, Trinity will be leaving Colorado this Tuesday for her journey to us!! They are tentatively scheduled to arrive here in Maryland very late Wednesday night or Thursday morning!! We are all so excited, although a bit nervous - please keep Trinity in your prayers as she makes her trip East this week! Updates will be given as soon as she gets here!!
UPDATE 4-18-06 - Trinity was very perky and alert in her stall this evening - and very hungry!! Her nose is clearing up and her cough is minimal - she seems to be responding well to the antibiotics, the good food and attention from Amber. We are working on transport to get Little Trinity shipped to Maryland as soon as the veterinarian treating her in Colorado ok's her for transport! If you would like to help with Trinity's veterinary care or transport, it would be greatly appreciated, especially by Trinity!!
UPDATE 4-15-06 - The veterinarian was out to clean Trinity's wound and examine it. It is very deep, and will take quite a long time to heal. She has been started on antibiotics to ward off infection. He flushed the wound out, cleaned out the debris, packed the wound with medication and bandaged it. Trinity also has a respiratory infection which we're hoping the antibiotics will help clear up.
