Happy Endings....
Thank you to our wonderful friends and adoptive families....you have all made a world of difference in the precious lives of the needy horses & dogs you chose to love and give forever homes to.
Shady Joyce
1987 Thoroughbred Mare by 'Chatsrullah' out of 'Alex'
*The day after being pulled from auction* *Shady, treasured in her new home with Carol*
Shady Joyce is a very sweet 20 year old Thoroughbred mare who was with Harlequin at Thurmont Auction in Maryland. Shady was in slightly better condition than Harlequin, but not much - the neglect was more then apparent in her condition and on her face. The Friends of Barbaro quickly stepped forward to help us secure both Shady's and Harlequin's future and we are so very grateful to them! Both horses were in desperate need of good care, feed, worming, farrier and dental work. She is absolutely loved all the attention and TLC she is now receiving in the foster care at Bay Acres.
Being dumped at an auction at 20 years old is just plain heartbreaking - we are sure she gave someone years of pleasure and that was the thank you that her and Harlequin received.
Shady is 16 hands and weighed in at 950lbs and was also full of worms - she is now in a wonderful home where she gets to live the life of leisure with her new best friend Beauty!
Congratulations Shady's Promise & Carol!
Forty Five
Dark Bay Thoroughbred Gelding * Foaled 2001

This 16.2 hand gorgeous dark bay gelding reached the end of his racing career. In his younger days, he was nominated for the Triple Crown in 2004, the year that Smarty Jones made his bid. Racing through age 6, it was clear he no longer had the ability he had briefly shown as a youngster. The Exceller Fund acquired him with assistance by Celtic Rein Equine Rescue and Sanctuary where he was fostered. Forty Five has the calmest temperament and eyes that will melt your heart.
Congratulations Forty Five & Cynthia!
Dakota's Blu Sky
3 year old Welsh Cross Filly
Adopted & Loved by Amber in New Jersey

Dakota has been adopted by Amber in New Jersey! Congratulations and we'll always love you Dakota! Dakota is doing absolutely amazing training with Amber and is successfully doing walk, trot, and small jumps. We are hoping to see Amber & Dakota showing soon - she came to us starved and deathly ill in September 2005, but fought like a champ and recovered 100% from her ordeal and now has a wonderful home and family of her own!
July 2007 - Dakota's first show & she's already in the ribbons! Congratulations Dakota & Amber!! We're so proud of you both!!
*Flash*
2 Y/O Pony Cross Gelding Loved & Cherished by Hillary & Willow
![]()
We're so happy for our little guy! Flash has found an awesome new home with Hillary, Willow and family and they just absolutely adore him as much as he adores them! We pulled Flash from auction in October 2006 as a deathly scared & very skinny young colt. With some TLC, he became a real in-your-pocket-pony and has learned that humans really can be nice. Flash is going to be one spoiled pony and we're thrilled for him and his new family!! It couldn't have turned out better for such a great family and a pony who deserved love!
**UPDATE** Flash will be showing in his first showmanship/halter class this coming weekend 7-29-07!! We will keep everyone updated on how Flash and Hilary do! Best of luck to this wonderful team!!
Read more about Flash on his home page at Willow's Way Stables!!
Baby Trinity
Yearling Quarter Horse Filly
Forever loved & cherished by Karen & Phil

What can we say - we couldn't have gotten any luckier than to have Trinity adopted by our very own board member Karen and Phil! Miss Trinity is now living at a fantastic dressage barn in Pennsylvania and is keeping her new pal Cimber company! We have a feeling that we're going to see some great things with Karen & Trinity when she gets older! She is an amazing filly and Trinity and her new mommy Karen are a match made in Heaven!! Congratulations Trin, we love you and always knew that you were going to be an awesome horse!
Korbel
20 year old Paint Gelding Intercepted from going to Camelot Auction in NJ
![]()
Korbel was intercepted before the lesson barn he worked so hard for shipped him to Camelot Auction in NJ - an auction well known for shipping horses straight to slaughter. Korbel arrived lame from years of hard work and improper management of his navicular - witnesses told us of how this boy was used constantly for lessons although he was clearly hurting - having such a kind nature, he just did what he was told. His thank you was being tossed aside like yesterday's trash by the very barn that he made so much money for.
From the day we got him off of the trailer here at 3am the morning of his trip from NY to MD, Korbel was always a complete gentleman. He showed an obvious love for children and we decided that a very special home needed to be found for him where he would be loved and cherished by a special child of his own - we were lucky enough to find that home. Korbel was adopted by Chris for her daughter Anna (pictured above) and I have still never saw a child light up like Anna did when she was with Korbel. He is a cherished member of the family and takes excellent care of his new girl and in turn, Korbel is now afforded the life of love and comfort that he truly deserves. I find it heartbreaking to see so many older horses tossed aside - older horses, many times, make the greatest partners for young children and even older people just learning about horsemanship and riding. Many have been there & have done it all, giving them a wealth of experience and making them steady and reliable - they are worth their weight in gold.
Congratulations to Korbel, Chris and Anna - we can not thank you enough for giving Korbel such a wonderful home & life!
Toby renamed Cody
Palomino Paint Gelding
Forever loved & adored by Andrea, Johanna and their neices!

Toby was brought to Celtic Rein by his owners because he could no longer keep up with the rigerous work of his young riders due to arthritic hocks. We promised his owners that we would find him a home with young children as this sweet gelding really has a special love of children. He was recently adopted by our friends Andrea & Johanna for them and their neices and as you can see, Toby is really enjoying his new home and taking good care of his girls! Congratulations on your new family Toby - your new haircut looks beautiful!
Nicky a.k.a. Nick O' Time
Quarter Horse Pony
Forever loved by Joan and family in Maryland

We pulled Nicky from New Holland Auction in Pennsylvania where the kill buyer stopped bidding on him early as he was so skinny. He was handled very roughly by the man selling him and looked as if he had lost his will to care any longer. He flourished at the rescue, gaining much needed weight, and as importantly, his confidence and trust!
Nicky is now a very loved boy and is doing great with his new mom Joan and his "brother" Joe in his new home!
We're so happy for you Nick and you just get more and more handsome every day!
**UPDATE** It is with a very heavy heart I write this. After a short battle with Lukemia, Nicky's owner, and our good friend, Joan has sadly passed away. Everyone is devestated as this was completely unexpected. Joan was only diagnosed a few months before this disease claimed her life and with Joan's strong determination, we all thought she would pull through.
Nick is in safe hands with Debbie (Trinity's sponsor), a great friend of Joan's and a great friend of ours as well. Debbie is taking excellent care of Nicky as we all try to recover from losing Joan. We hope that Nick may stay with Debbie, but if having another horse proves to be too much, we will be looking for a loving home for Nick again.

Ransom
Tennessee Walker/Quarter Horse Cross
Forever loved, adored and spoiled rotten by the Baker Family

Ransom was being abused when we rescued him - not beaten, but ridden hard and being handled very roughly & incompetently by very inexperienced people. In terms of complicated rescues, Ransom was probably the hardest rescue we have done yet. Through it all, he never lost his sweetness, but he was quickly losing his trust........
Barb and her daughters Jamie & Nicky worked very hard along side of us in seeing this rescue through and getting Ransom into loving and competent hands. Through it all, Barb was falling more and more in love with Ransom, and when we finally got him out of his situation, she stepped up to adopt him. Barb and her family are like family to us, and Ransom now lives the life of love and luxury along with his brother "Boomer" who was adopted through Lost & Found Horse Rescue in Pennsylvania.
On my recent visit home to NY, I had the pleasure of spending the day with Barb and Ransom.....I don't think there is a home out there that could compare to the one this sweet and lucky horse was blessed with finding.
Ransom, you and Boomer will always be my favorite "nephews"!
Gal
Pinto Pony Mare
Forever loved and adored by Mary & family in Maryland
.jpg)
Gal was lucky enough to have a very loving young owner who cared about where she ended up when she could no longer take care of her because of college & financial restraints.
Gal is now living very happily with our friend Mary in Maryland where she enjoys a leisurly life of luxury and wonderful tranquil trail rides. Her old owner has been welcomed to visit her any time by Mary and everyone is very happy with this arrangement! If only every situation could turn out this well!
Thank you Mary - you were right there to help when Gal needed a safe, experienced & loving forever home!
Pretty Johnie *Cinnamon*
"a.k.a Cinn-a-Jon"
Gorgeous Chestnut Thoroughbred Mare
Training and doing an amazing job at Pure Thoughts Horse & Foal Rescue in Florida
Pretty Johnie, also known as Cinnamon, was our first horse rescued from New Holland Auction in Pennsylvania. She was adopted by a family in Florida, but turned out to be too much horse for them. Cinnamon didn't do too well in her racing career, but she doesn't know that! Jennifer Swanson from Pure Thoughts Horse and Foal Rescue in Loxahatchee, Florida offered to take Cinnamon in and have their trainer work with her. I am very happy to report that Cinnamon is doing phenomenally well after 3 weeks of consistent work and training and is quickly stealing the hearts of everyone at Pure Thoughts! A tough situation turned into a good one after all! Keep up the great work Cinn.....we miss you and know that you'll find your perfect family very soon!
Thank you to Pure Thoughts and to Perzhia, Brad & Jen for working with Cinn!
UPDATE: Cinnamon has been adopted, along with her boyfriend Affirmed Fever!
