This Civil War thing is proving to be fairly addictive. A couple weeks ago I made an 1860s cotton print day dress... nothing too elaborate, but it's the start of a proper wardrobe.
I also finally got some decent pictures of my French and Indian era outfit, and have them up with the rest here.

I have a new dress! This past weekend I attended my first Civil War reenactment as a participant. I had a lot of fun, and have come home brimming over with plans for an entire 1860's wardrobe.
I made a ballgown for the event, basing it of an original from 1860-63 belonging to a Canadian museum.

I finished all the sewing for my BFA show! Showers of confetti and all that...
The 1840 Day Dress is now finished! I think it's the best thing I've done yet, and am started really fall in love the Victorian era. Can't wait to try my hand at Civil War clothing!

It's a still a busy, busy time! I've been hard at work making up the early 19th cen outfits, and now only have 1840 left to go! This means two entirely new ensembles, and a new corset. (and nicer pictures of the 1820 dress) Not a bad start to the year...

The last few month of 2008 were very busy! I finished the set of Fairytale costumes I was making for my senior show, and had a photoshoot of those four costumes on the 6th of this month. The pictures were taken by Jackie Garner, and they turned out beautifully! You can see the group shots on the senior show page, and individual breakdown and details on the character's pages. The King
The Prince
The Queen
The Maiden
I also have some pictures of the 18th cen. French and Indian War Era ensemble I was putting together last time I updated here.
At the moment I'm very busy making historical costumes for the other half of my senior show. I'm doing a retrospect of the early 19th cen, and am making one costume for each decade of 1810-1840. The 1820 dress from this past summer was made with this project in mind, and I'm currently working on the 1810 outfit.
Last and somewhat least-ly, I've slightly redesigned this site again. Freewebs recently made some major changes, and my old template wasn't supported. I think my site looks cleaner now, and everything is in the same place, just possibly looking somewhat different.

I haven't been spending the last couple months in idleness! Over the summer I made an 1820 evening dress. It's the prettiest thing I've made to date, and just needs accessories and an event. It feels very swish.
The Maiden for my senior project is finished, and now only awaits jewelry and a proper photo-shoot.
The other costumes for my senior project are coming along well. The Queen is nearly finished, and the Prince and the King are under way.
I'm also putting together an outfit for a mid 18th cen. reenactment, with the new group Les Proches de la Grande Tortue, that's taking place at the end of October. It's F&I era in Michigan, so nothing too elaborate.

The nav bar was getting rather unwieldy, so I did a slight redesign and put all the costumes thumbnails on one page. They are now divided by year made, not by era or genre. Hopefully I haven't confused anybody!

My "ordinary clothing" wardrobe was very lacking, and I made a dress earlier this spring to address that need.
I also added a page for my senior project (which will consist of four costumes, and will probably consume most of the summer).
And this weekend I started work on my 1820 evening gown!

The solo Irish dance dress was finished at the beginning of the month, and is in Rebekah's possession. I put more hours into this sucker than anything else I have ever made!
3-1-08 I finished the Regency corset by the end of break, and finally got decent pictures up today!
The 1820 dress itself has been put on hold until the summer, due to an incredibly stressful semester. I'm still working on my sister's dance dress, and have started work on the costume side of my senior project for school. Even though I don't have a lot to post here, trust that I'm working away like a mad-woman!
