History

Ok, this is a little history of the band.  It all started in January in 2005 when two guys decided to start a band.  These two guys asked Nathan to join as they knew he played le guitar.  They started practicing together and came up with one song.  This song was shite. But it was funny.

Nathan had been jamming with Simon McElhone for ages at this point and he decided to get Simon in the band to be the singer.  They wrote another song, just like the last one, it was a normal punk song.   It was called Naughty Angel, it was very catchy.  Although this band did not have a drummer.  There were two guitarists, a bassist and a singer.

They needed a drummer badly, so the other guitarist asked his friend if he would be their drummer, he agreed and they all met at Nathan's house.  They started jamming, the drummer was 12 and he was only playing a snare drum as there was no drum kit at Nathan's house, but he was still a good drummer, so they asked him to come back the next week.  They practiced at the bassist's house this time where there was a drum kit so they got to hear him play properly.  They asked him to come back again, but he didn't...ever.

The band just went along with things again, trying to write songs, but failing.  They tried some cover songs, but failed.  It was a very frustrating time, and they just started messing around a lot, forgetting about practice.

The rhythm guitarist was messing around way too much and just refused to practice so we had to kick him out and of course Nathan was given these duties even though he didn't own the band.

After getting rid of a guitarist they now needed a rhythm guitarist and a drummer.

In the summer Simon went on a trip to Lourdes with Search Maghera.  At this trip he found a guitarist and drummer who both went to search and lived local to us.  He asked them to join the band and they said "aye, why the hell not."

A couple of weeks went by and the two girls could still not come to practice.  Nathan and Simon came to the decision that the bassist should go, because he just wasn't doing enough for the band, and as much as they like him as a friend he had to go.  So again Nathan kicked out another member, however this time he kicked out the person that owned the band!

The next week they had the first practice with FiFi and Sheena.  They didn't have a drum kit yet though.  But they jammed together anyways.  Brendan Scott was there too for a laugh and they started jamming to Duality by Slipknot.  Chris, FiFi's husband at the time, came along as well as he played bass.  Not a lot happened at that practice but they got to know each other and they got on well.

The next couple of practices were the same, just getting to know each other, until they finally got a drum kit!  They started jamming together and they came up with their first song.  They were really happy as they actually sounded like a band.

A few months later and they had about 5 complete songs.  Songs that they were very happy with and they finally had "their own sound" Although they still aren't sure what it actually is!

After a while Chris left the band.  He was a cool guy and fun to be in a band with.

The band went to Matt Higgins to record a demo.  They only went in because FiFi had to record a song for her GCSE Music.  Originally they were to spend 2 hours to record, but they ended up spending 4 hours and they recorded another two songs. The songs they recorded were Skin Deep, Cocoon and Cry Wolf.  When they finished recording, they asked Matt if he knew any bassists.

A few days later he sent Nathan an email to tell him that he did and his name is Gerard Walls.  He gave Nathan his number and he called him that night.  Nathan asked him if he wanted to join a band but Gerard said he was already in a band.  Then Gerard asked Nathan if they were a serious band, or just messing around, Nathan said they were serious and that they even recorded a demo.  When Gerard heard the demo he couldn't believe that they were their own songs.  Gerard came to practice the next week and Gerard agreed to join the band.

Eleven days later Before Thursday played their very first live performance.  They played at Battle of the Bands in Basement Jack's in Maghera.  It was a great night and there was a lot of people there that came to support them.

On May 6th they played at The Cellar Bar in Draperstown, supporting Assassinate the Itch along with AngelFall.  They played a lot better that night.  Their set list was:  Hero, Skin Deep, Razorblades, Nameless, Personal Revolutions, Cry Wolf.

There next gig was at Guildhall Square in Derry for BBC Blast and will be on TV sometime in October.  They played a cover song, for the first time, Teenage Kicks.

And that brings us up to now.  They're going to record an EP in August.  And play many more gigs.  So who knows what the future holds for these...retards...people....
