12/17/06- Fremont,Ne The Beer Heads coming off their 2-1 1st game win in the tournament kept the momentum going and got some help as Billys goalie had to leave suddenly forcing a late change in the Boinger net and that proved to be the difference in the Championship. The Beer Heads never trailed in the game and opened the scoring in the 1st when defenseman Brad Bell scored on a shot from the point to make it 1-0. Chris Clem added another goal to make it 2-0 going to the half. Billy's answered though in the 2nd cutting the lead in half to 2-1 buts that as close as they got as the Beer Heads scored 2 of the next 3 goals in the game to win the Fall 2006 Tournament !!! The Beer Heads played excellent all night with great hustle to most of the loose balls and for much of both games all the action was in the opponents end. In goal Mike Parks made save after save when it counted and the Beer Head offense did the rest scoring 6 goals in two games while just missing on many other opportunities. The Beer Heads finish the Fall Season with an overall record of 6-4-1 having been the only team to beat Billy and the Boingers in the Fall Season. The Winter session will start up in a few weeks, look for upcoming news shortly.
Congrats to the Beer Heads and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All!!!!

12/10/06- Fremont,Ne The Beer Heads fall 3-2 to winless Team Pound in a close game coming right down to the last few moments as Team Pound scores with 2:19 left to pick up their only win of the 2006 Fall Session. The Beer Heads missed on many scoring opportunities and some questionable late calls gave two power plays to Team Pound as they were able to steal the 3-2 win. Beer Heads goalie Mike Parks had one of his worst nights of the season as two of the 3 goals were lucky bounces that usually don't find the back of the net, then the last goal came on a slapshot from the left point to end the regular season of frustrations for Team Pound. The Beer Heads Carey Durbin opened the scoring with a hard slapshot in the 1st finding the upper left corner of the net, but Team Pound answered with a shot that knuckled in on Parks and skipped over his foot into the net to make it 1-1. The a shot not much later went through and deflected off defenseman Brad Bells leg and right by the screened Parks to make it 2-1 Pound. Midway through the 3rd a rebound off Bells slapshot was put in by Eric Kamin to make it 2-2 and the Beer Heads looked to continue Pounds misery but the tables were turned when Pound's slapshot found the lower right corner of the net with 2:19 left. After a questionable roughing call then came a dangerous high sticking call that were both bad calls gave Team Pound Power Plays then came the game winner. Next up is the League tournament where the Beer Heads will play the #3 seed Angry Beavers and with a win, will then play the winner of #1 Billy and the Boingers vs #4 Team Pound for the Fall championship.

11/19/06- Fremont,Ne The Beer Heads fall to 4-3 on the season as the Beavers got all their offense from one source Sunday as the Beaver forward had the hat-trick 3 goals in the 3-2 win over Beer Heads. Beaver forward Jon Ludvigsen scored on a rebound in the 1st to make it 1-0 then on a slapshot and a wrap-around in the 2nd to give the Beavers the win. Carey Durbin scored early in the second to make it 2-1 but Ludvigsens 3rd goal gave the Beavers a 3-1 lead until late in the 2nd defenseman Nick Reichs lobbed a shot from his own blue line down the ice and it skipped by the Beaver keeper to make it 3-2 with about 2 minutes remaining. Some last minute shots went wide and the Beavers had won 3-2 sending the Beer Heads to the Thanksgiving day bye week with a loss and a 4-3 record. The Beer Heads will be back in action on December 3rd at 6pm taking on 1st place Billy and the Boingers with only 2 more games before the Fall Tournament on December 17th .

11/12/06- Fremont,Ne The Beer Heads started off slowly Sunday night as sloppy play and missed opportunties left the game tied at zero moving to halftime with Team Pound. Team Pound, playing with many new faces was missing a starting forward and it showed and they only managed 3 shots on Beer Head goalie Mike Parks all night. The Beer Heads on the other hand were slamming the ball at the net all night before finally forward Eric Kamin slapped one past the Pound goalie to make it 1-0 with about 12 minutes remaining in the game. It didn't take long to make it 2-0 as Kamin slid a pass to a wide open Carey Durbin who 1-timed the ball into the back of the net to put the game away. Team Pound had many offsides calls and the only penalty of the game coming on a high-sticking in the 1st half but could manage no offense and only 3 shots on goal. After the game Goalie Pete W from Pound told Parks, "I noticed you had your goalie mask up on your head most, if not the whole game..that'd be great...I could eat a burger if I had that much time!". Beer Heads move to 4-2 and stay in 2nd place with one more game before the bye week for Thanksgiving.

11/5/06- Fremont,Ne The Beer Heads missing 3 players Sunday night couldn't overcome Billys and fell for the first time in 4 weeks 1-0. The game was a story of close calls and missed opportunities as both Beer Heads and Billy's had scoring chances but saves by both Goalies and some shots that hit the post and crossbars kept the game scoreless for 39 minutes and 23 seconds. With 37 seconds left a give and go from the slot into the crease created a point blank shot on Beer Heads goalie Mike Parks who making the initial save knocked out a rebound into the sliding Boingers forward and the ball went into the unguarded Beer Head net to give Billys the 1-0 win.

10/22/06- Fremont,Ne The Beer Heads continued their winning ways Sunday night as the team looked sharp and the play showed it, in a 3-1 win over previous League Leader Billy and the Boingers. The Beer Heads struck 1st as Eric Kamin rifled a shot from the point that found the upper corner of the net to make it 1-0 Beer Heads. Billy's answered though with a breakaway goal that found it's way through the 5-hole on goalie Mike Parks and it was all tied at 1-1 going to the half. In the 2nd period Carey Durbin lit the lamp to make it 2-1 Beer Heads and Eric Kamin scored his second of the night to make the Beer Head cusion 2 goals at 3-1 midway through the 2nd half. Billys had multiple scoring opportunties but Parks was up to the challenge deflecting away attempt aftter attempt getting some help from the iron as 3 Billy's shots hit the post. For the Beer Heads this is their 2nd win in a row and they now sit atop 1st place at 2-1. Next week the Beer Heads will be missing 3 players due to softball scheduling but after that it should be full strength from then on out.

10/15/06- Fremont,Ne The Beer Heads got back to .500 with a solid victory over Team Pound Sunday night as both teams had only one sub and fatigue would be a factor. Team Pound opened the scoring in the 1st as a trickler from the point rolled right through the Beer Head defensemen and past the outstretched leg of goalie Mike Parks to find the corner of the net to make it 1-0 Pound. But that would be the only highlight of the night for Team Pound and every other scoring opportunity was turned away and the offense was clicking seeing 3 different players score in the 3-1 win. Brad Bell, Eric Kamin, and Carey Durbin all added goals in the game to move Beer Heads to 1-1 on th e season. The Beer Heads were suppossed to play Billy and the Boingers but due to a schedule conflict and a scheduling error Team Pound got the loss instead.

10/8/06- Fremont,Ne..The Beer Heads open the 2006 Fall Session in a beautiful but spacey Sidner Ice Arena in Fremont with a loss. The Beavers struck first on a wrist shot to the upper corner of the goal to take a 1-0 lead, but shorthanded from a penalty the Beer Heads' Eric Kamin took a break-away down the ice and deposited it in the back of the net to even the score 1-1 by the half. The spacious ice was tiring to a short-handed Beer Heads missing defensemen Jim Bain and new comer Tom and fatigue played a factor as the 2nd half came to a close. With 5 minutes left in the game the Beer Heads defense couldn't keep up with Beaver Andy Bradfield as he scored twice, the first a redirection in front of defenseman Brad Bell to make it 2-1 Beavers then a point blank shot from the crease past Goalie Mike Parks to make it 3-1 and insure the Beavers win. The Beer Heads had many opportunities but consistantly missed the net including a penalty shot from Forward Chris Clem to leave the tired Beer Heads a 3-1 loser in the opener. Game time next week is TBD , the Beer Heads are scheduled to play at 6pm but a possible schedule change is pending to help with softball conflicts will be announced later in the week.
