Kristine Semenyk started out in the horse business at a very young age. She inherited the "horse crazy bug" from her mother, Wilma. Throughout the years she ventured into the many disciplines and breeds of the horse world. She has trained and ridden for some of the best riders in Canada, eventually coming back to Wilma's first true love, the Paint horse.
After finishing school, although she could have gone onto further studies, she took time off to find out what she wanted to do. During this time, Kris took jobs with well known Thoroughbred breeders in Ontario. These farms were the basis for her in-depth herd health knowledge and stable management.
As the years progressed the farm took hold and started to thrive. Between Kris training horses and giving lessons and Wilma's genuine love of all horses Bedrock Acres was formed.
In 2001, the decision was made to head west, so the breeding and training programs were scaled down and moved to Edmonton, Alberta. Again as life dealt its issues, the horses stayed silent for a few years.
2006 now finds Kris with the opportunity to open up again and start the training program in Dundurn, Saskatchewan. Still on a small scale, she still has 3 mares of the original farm and now has 2 colts to add to the band.
We believe in quality, temperament, type and versatility. The Paint horse is an excellent example of all of these qualities that we look for when we breed our quality mares.
