British Equine Collectors' Forum

For All UK Model Horse Collectors

Join the BECF

Membership to the BECF is Free, but we ask for a minimum donation of £1 per year to cover the postage for the newsletters if you would like to receive them. Further donations are welcome, and we hold regular Postal and Photo Shows to raise the funds needed to keep the membership and the Newsletters free – Please help by supporting these shows if you can, as every little bit helps J

As a Full Member of the BECF:

  • You will receive 4 BECF Newsletters a year, which include BECF news, details of many Photo, Postal and Live shows, competitions, tips and advice, sales lists and lots more!
  • You can request copies of the many BECF Information Sheets, which will help you answer some of the questions you may have about the many aspects of the hobby.
  • You can register your model or Stud Prefixes and/or Suffixes with the BECF and they will be added to the Registered List.
  • You can enter the BECF Fundraising Photo shows, which are normally held on the 28th of each month held by different judges.
  • You can also qualify your models for the UK Model Equine Championships (MECs). This is the highpoint of the Live Show year when models, which have qualified at various Live Shows held around the country by fellow BECF members, get to come together and compete in the end of year Live Championship Show.
  • BECF members also receive a 10% discount on all purchases of Breyer and Peter Stone models with Horse Sense (www.horsesense-online.co.uk).

For Newcomers to the hobby

If you have been;

  • less than two years in the hobby
  • under the age of 16 years
  • been out of the hobby for 5 years
  • or if its your first live show the BECF holds special events just for you.

 These events are:

  • Photo shows  held just for Newcomers  (approx twice yearly)
  • A separate Newcomers Championship (to be held separately from the MECS Annual Live Championship) which is divided into Performance, Original Finish, Resin, and Custom by Owner. This will be judged by our Newcomers’ Representative and other suitably qualified judges and you do not need to qualify your models in order to attend. Any models that qualify for the MECS are not eligible for the Newcomers Section. This year it is on the 10th May 2008 at Rothersthorpe Village Hall, Northamptonshire.

 Also available for newcomers -

  • Specific Newcomers Live Championship show held and organised by Utterly Horses. This is where only Newcomers can qualify their horses through attending live shows that are holding Newcomers Sections.
  •  A Newcomers Representative is here to help you with any queries and if in attendance at live shows will guide you through. If not most live shows have a BECF Representative there.

There are two types of BECF member:

·      Full BECF Member – for those who pay the postage donation to get the BECF Newsletters 4 times a year.

·      Basic BECF member – for those whose names and details are registered with the BECF but who do NOT pay to get the BECF NL.

·      The BECF Newsletter Donation is still only £1.00 per year (to cover postage costs).

·      All donations for 2008 are due before 31st January 2008. If you send your donation after that date you will need to send 25p for each remaining newsletter in that year: For example if you send your donation in July there are 2 Newsletters remaining in the year so you need to send 50p donation.

Please note that membership is for collectors in the United Kingdom only!

Thank you for interest in the BECF.
