| Mark | 7 eleven | 7 eleven | traveller plain meat pie | $3.20 | $0.20 | 6 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5.25 | 1.54 | A very average pie. Pastry was thin and tired. Packaged in plastic, meat filling was low grade, gravy too salty and pie was not that full. |
| Brendon | 7 eleven | 7 eleven | traveller cheese and bacon | $3.20 | $0.00 | 7 | 6 | 5 | 4 | 5.5 | 1.72 | An average pie, it wasn’t the worst pie experience ive had. Good for hangover, dubious packaging, made me wonder of the origin of the product. |
| Mark | Aussie Pie shop - Darling Harbour | uncertain | round, steak and bacon | $4.50 | $0.00 | 8 | 7 | 7 | 9 | 7.75 | 1.72 | hard to find, bit pricey, gravy was excellent although salty - suspect MSG is added, bacon bits were a bit fatty and the mince was too finely ground, bit sloppy to eat - otherwise delicious |
| Brendon | Aussie Pie shop - Darling Harbour | round, steak and mushroom | $4.50 | $0.00 | 6 | 7 | 6 | 9 | 7 | 1.56 | Aimed at the tourist dollar in Darling Harbour, this pie was expensive for what it was. Little mushroom taste and the steak looked more like pigs arses. For a quality pie, head elsewhere. | |
| Mark | four and twenty | harbourside convenience store | round beef king size | $2.50 | $0.00 | 6 | 5 | 5 | 1 | 4.25 | 1.70 | very cheap, poor selection selection of pies, bit dry. Filling is low quality and a bit gristly, salty. Sauce portions only. However is nearby, cheap and straight forward so will remain a reasonable option depsite obvious quality flaws |
| Mark | 7 eleven | 7 eleven | traveller cheese and bacon | $3.20 | $0.00 | 7 | 5 | 4 | 1 | 4.25 | 1.33 | one word - Cold. Cheese topping is a plus, but it could not save an otherwise bacon-gristly pie. He offered to warm it up in the microwave, phillistine! Packaging was greasy |
| Mark | David Jones | David Jones | chicken, leek and pumpkin | $4.20 | $0.00 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 1 | 7.75 | 1.85 | Im still buzzing. Pricey -which brought down the value rating, but pies don’t get any better. The pie by which all others shall be judged. Overall experience was diminished somewhat - sauces were not an option and napkins scarce - however with a pie as good as this, youd be mad to ruin it with sauce and since youll be licking your fingers afterwards, napkins not required |
| Mark | unknown | Kirk on Harris street | Pie with mash and gravy | $5.00 | $0.00 | 6 | 6 | 7 | 9 | 7 | 1.40 | Couldn’t even see the pie, theyd hidden it beneath mash (suspect not real mash) and a puddle of gravy (gravox - but well made). Pie was mediocre and it was perhaps a good thing that it was out of sight. The gravy masked the true flavour, but suspect that is probably for the best. For $5 its a reasonable deal but i think the burger looked better prospect - a sad positon for any pie to find itself. |
| mark | Mrs Macs Big Country Pie | Vicars 5 ways | Beef Pie - country style | $3.80 | $0.20 | 7 | 7 | 7 | 1 | 5.5 | 1.38 | A good generic pie, can handle the day-long sit in the pie warmer and even by late evening maintain a decent structure and flavour. Good price and a decent size too - a real meal. |
| Mark | hannahs | hannahs on harris street | chicken and cheese | $3.60 | $0.00 | 9 | 8 | 6 | 9 | 8 | 2.22 | A great chicken pie, but the weird cheese sauce they poured on top was quite scary. A good pie reigned by a dissapointing cheese one could say. Pastry was very nice though and it was served on a paper plate with a fork - classy! Overall a fine compeditor for David Jones, with a distinct price advantage. well done hannahs. |
| Penny | 7 eleven | 7 eleven | chilli and cheese | $3.50 | 6 | 6 | 10 | 0 | 5.5 | 1.57 | Very good when extremely stoned and a little drunk, not sure how it would otherwise fare up | |
| Steven | Mrs Macs Famous Beef Pie | Supermarket under stairs leading down to D.Harbour shops | Beef pie | $2.80 | 8 | 7 | 8 | 0 | 7.15 | 2.23 | Quite a crispy morsel, probably due to the likelihood it had been on the stand for months. However this turned out to be a good thing. The chunks were quite indefinable, of which I approved. The cheapest of the lot thus far, this was a pie with something to prove. It went down like a dream, with the only complaint being the rather bland gravy robbed this darling of its own unique personality. | |
