PROGRAM HISTORY

 

Since its founding in 1992, the Bearjoran Project has served Wichita and the surrounding communities by providing Teddy Bears and stuffed animals for use by local law enforcement personnel. 

Loosely based on the public service concept created by the "Telephone Pioneers of America", the Bearjoran Project gets it's name and inspiration from Ms. Nana Visitor, who played the Bajoran officer Major Kira Nerys on the long-running Science fiction television show "Star Trek - Deep Space Nine."  

As allies in their quest to "Boldly go where no Teddy Bear has gone before", the Bearjoran Project has enjoyed the assistance of various local, and regional organizations:
