The trick is to keep your eye on the ball, even when you can't see the ball.

  International Baccalaureate Information:

The Whiiter Classical Academy is currently pursuing accredidation by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) for the Middle Years Programme (MYP). We have completed Application "A" and are certified by the International Baccalaureate of North America (IBNA) to be a Candidate School.  We will be working the rest of this year and first semester next year to implement the remaining portions of the program and plan to submit Application "B" by Christmas 08 which should allow us to be certified a World School by the end of next school year.

What that means is that students are surrounded by coordinated, challenging instruction that is internationally minded, presnted from multiple perspectives and attuned to the individual talents of each student.

We consider the IBO's Learner Profile to be an excellent outline for a quality student at the WCA. As such we will work with your student to become:

  •
    •
      • Inquirers
  • Knowlegeable
  • Thinkers
  • Communicators
  • Pricipled
  • Open Minded
  • Caring
  • Risk Takers
  • Balanced
  • Reflective
  •
  •
  •
  • We also are working to fully integrate the Areas of Interaction that the IBO puts forth. They are:
  • Approaches to Learning/ This gives us pause to consider how a student learns best. We ask if they are a visual learner, an audio learner, do they need things highly organized or do they prefer to talk about information with others as they put it all together.
  • Human Ingenuity/ It is important that students understand that they are creators of things in the world. It is equally important to study and plan for the consequences (good and bad) of those creations.
  • The Environment/ A student needs to be aware of the interaction of the environment with the Human element. We want our students to understand and accept the responsibilities that come with being good stewards of the planet.
  • Community and Service/ Beyond one time, feel-good events, we want students to understand that they are a member of this community and they have responsibilities within that community that go beyond self gratification.
  • Health and Social Education/ We want our students to develop holistically, taking care of all parts of their bodies.
