Well, I think it’s exciting.
Some time ago on the Card Making and Papercraft Forum Lauraine posted a thread about slice forms. As usual, I couldn’t bear not to know so I asked my friend Mr Google about slice forms and was immediately hooked.
Lauraine was planning a tutorial book and several forum members, myself included, offered to help test drive her patterns. Well, what an adventure. After she had many traumas the book is finally in print and I now have my own signed copy with an honourable mention as a tester.
You can see the book here and order it either as a hard copy or a download. You can view sample pages.
Well done Lauraine – look forward to your next publication!
What a great prize I got. Sara’s on line magazine is well worth the subscription – lots of product reviews, templates, challenges and ideas as well as prize draws. Here’s what I won – I am SO thrilled!
Here’s my entry which got pulled out of the hat.
Here’s the swap I received in exchange – another beautiful piece made by Lottie. The scan, of course, doesn’t do it justice.
Carol did this class, wet oils – I was quite chuffed with my effort, albeit the mountains are a somewhat improbable shape. The technique is by Bob Ross and the canvas is coated with a sort of linseed (or similar thing) and this makes the oils spread more easily. Large brushes are used and it makes a good effect even in my inexpert hands. Apparently the technique is shown on Sky 241 in the morning but I don’t have Sky so haven’t been able to view it.
I’ve done a couple of pages for challenges. The first for Paper Paradise, a Liz Weber sketch. Not too happy with it as I feel the paper behind the photos is too dark.
The second, for the Form a Lines forum – I’ve not met the brief in full but I didn’t want to reduce the photos because I liked the impact of the larger pictures. I think the sketch is designed by the forum owner’s wife but not sure about that.
Well, inspired by Cindy’s project, I’ve been on a bit of a roll with my card making and went on to make two other shaped cards. The diamond top instructions are here; and the fold out one with the diamond in the middle is here.
I’ve used the free decoupage sheets from Monica’s site on some of these cards.
You can see all the cards here – the photos aren’t too good but you get the idea.
Ruth sent me a beautiful Halloween card and gift, you can see it in full detail on her blog. The blog’s well worth a browse, Ruth does some beautiful work. Thank you Ruth!
Thank you too Momiji for the beautiful ATCs. Momiji loves to do miniature work and is SO neat with all her folding – I wish she could send me some patience too! The photos and scans don't do these pieces justice.
Cindy did the project this week and I was so chuffed with it – I made three cards on the night and plan to keep this style for a some of my Christmas cards.
Two are done with bits from recycled shop cards and the one with the bow is made using images from Crafty Individuals miniature Christmas themed book. These little books are such good value and very versatile.
Here’s our first bottling of apple juice. It’s been pasteurised and will keep – although I don’t think that will prove to be a problem! I’m very pleased with it – it’s had nothing added.
I had a bonanza package from Anne who does these amazing zentangles (and she’s sent me a full set of green ones)! She’s also sent me two post card art cards – lovely work and I’m tempted to have a go at postcards myself now. Thank you Anne!
