This is an FA initiative aimed at improving the standard’s within Clubs and Schools.
The Charter Standard Scheme is a best practice guide that sets standards for clubs with regards to Coaching, Administration and Child Protection for clubs working with young people. The aim is to achieve quality at grassroots football in all the above area’s, thus improving the playing experience for all concerned.
The Charter is a three tiered award, Charter Club, Development Club and Community Club, as you progress through the award your club is expected to meet higher standards and increase your involvement within the community.
At Bealonians Football Club we are working hard towards improving our standards and increasing our involvement within our local community.
History.
In April 2004 the football club achieved the Charter Club Award for both adult and youth football. This did not happen overnight, it entailed a lot of hard work and commitment by many people involved. The road started a year before, back in March 2003 when the club applied for funding via the Awards4All scheme this was successful in June.
A major part of these funds were set aside for improving our managers and coaches towards the level required by the Charter Standard.
The Charter requires that all your Managers & Coaches have gained the minimum coaching award of the Level I Certificate in Coaching Football and have attended workshops in the area’s of Emergency Aid and Best Practices with regards to Child Protection.
Bealonians Football Club has a impressive record of making available courses to its volunteers, since July 2004 a total of 29 coaches have registered on a Level I course and all passed.
The club takes a very positive attitude towards providing courses for its volunteers and utilises the EFCA programme via both AFA and
This is an ongoing process for the club if we wish to keep the Charter Award and progress to the higher awards, everybody at the club must take an interest and give their support.
To achieve the next goal of ‘Development Club’, a Development Plan to display our long term goals is being produced, this covers Girls Football, Links to Schools, Community liaison and much more.
