Welcome to the new season 2007/08 at Bealonians Football Club.
The football club has continued to develop and last season we achieve Charter Standard Development Club status. On this theme we will be looking to achieve Community Club status within the forthcoming season. If you require information on this please speak to me.
Progression is one of the words that people in football like to use. They use it in regards Clubs, Teams and Players. At Bealonians we are no different and want to see progression in all the above areas. To achieve this is not a given right, it takes work and usually hard work.
My question to you ‘Whom is responsible’ for ensuring things progress ?
Well my answer, All of us whom are involved, The Committee, Managers, Coaches, Players, Parents and Volunteers.
Managers want to see their teams improve.
Coaches want to see their players improve.
Parents want to see they children improve.
The club wants to see their teams improve.
So for next season we all need to partake in the progression, this could be in support of your son/daughter, encouragement of all players, helping the manager or giving ideas to the club.
Please look to be involved and positive in your outlook, the club needs your support and involvement.
Our 2007-8 motto is
‘THE CLUB IS ALL OF US’
A big part of any club is the social interaction, the players are getting this at training and games. I want to bring to your attention, yes you the parents. At home games the Sports Centre has catering and bar facilities which are available to you all and I would like to see you come and share a drink and some conversation about your child, the team, even the club. If you are interested please ask your manager for details. See you there!
At Bealonians FC we run the Jack Petchey Award Scheme which is aimed at 11 – 25 year olds. This scheme is very beneficial to the club and the players. This year I am looking to promote the scheme more and to do this I am looking for some JP Volunteers, the work involved will not be a lot or difficult, so if you are interested please contact me prior to the season.
Within the club there are many roles besides the football management and coaching roles, so volunteer recruitment is a must for us. Ongoing from this, for the club to develop and progress our volunteer recruitment needs must be met, basically we need help. The size of the club has grown and for the future we are looking to implement our own Community scheme.
So if you are interested please let us know
To aid in this, the club has a positive attitude towards volunteer development, providing access to the relevant courses, not only with regards football but administration as well. It must be known to aid the progression of the players, we must develop our volunteers.
We are looking to progress and develop the club to the highest standards your help and views are appreciated, so if you have comments/ideas with regards development please contact me to discuss.
Many thanks for your support.

April Fools Day 2006, and after a wait of 70 years Bealonians under 15 team managed by Andy Hodges & Paul Backhouse won the Saturday u15 AFA Cup with a 4-2 AET victory, rallying well after letting a two goal lead slip during normal time. Earlier in the day Bealonians u11b lost out on penalties after a 0-0 draw, nevertheless a creditable performance in reaching a
In mini-soccer an exciting finale to the season was provided when Eric McCarthy led his under 10a team into the last game of the season needing a victory by a two-goal margin or more to secure the title. Leading 2-1 the vital goal arrived with seconds left, prompting much merryment all round.
On the Senior front, the 2005-2006 saw the club’s 1st XI, back in top flight football for the first time in over a decade and showed that they have the necessary quality to compete in the Amateur Football Combination (AFC) Premier Division and finished in a creditable 5th place.
In the cups, only the 7th XI could find any sort of success, yet even they failed right at the final hurdle losing out to Old Suttonians in a well fought Old Boys Invitational 7th XI Cup Final
The 2nd, 3rd, 5th & 7th XI’s all performed well during the season and consolidated their positions in their relevant AFC divisions. The 4th& 6th XI struggled both finishing in a lowly 9th place.
The Club’s 70th Anniversary was celebrated in style with an excellent dinner and dance in June. Over 200 past and present members travelling from far and wide, spent the evening reminiscing on past glories and of what might have been.
The future continues to look encouraging with the Youth section expanding to 18 groups either training or playing in the Echo Junior League. Season 2005-2006 showed that our players are progressing and hopefully they will all gain some success over the coming season in reward for their hard work.
