Four million horses have been slaughtered in the U.S. and Canada since 1980.

The horses aren't feeding the 15% population of starving people but rather it is a $15-20 luxury.

Cats and dogs are protected and aren't allowed to be sold for slaughter or exported food and yet horses who are not bred for meat are being slaughtered.

A national poll in the states showed that 93% of people want horse slaughter to be stopped.

Often horse owners don't even realize that their horses are being sold for meat when they sell them to a new owner. Even if they are aware, a lot of the time they aren't aware of the suffering and fear the horses have to go through on their way to and at the slaughter houses.

Beacon for the Equine is a website developed to equip unaware individuals with horse neglect and abuse education. In other words, you can find lots of information regarding horse abuse and slaughter along with ways to help out and get involved through Beacon for the Equine.
