Welcome to the website of the

Beacon Flyer

Indian Fighter Kite

Welcome to my home page and the starting point of this website based on my hobby of Kiting.

I hope to give you an insite to my hobby and that of millions of others through text and pictures.

I will hapily add information from correspondents that is suitable for all readers of the site.

After all Kites are for everyone of any age ability or standing.

A true sport for all.

Enjoy

I fly my kites predominantley at Ashurst Beacon, Skelmersdale and Otterspool, Liverpool

Most flyers have a pechant for a various style of kite, mine is for Indian Fighter Kites and lately Chinese Modern Kites. Fighters

where introduced to me by Jester (Norther Kite Group) otherwise known as Mally.

Within the site you will find information and links to other sites, organisations and general interest for the kite flyer.

The entrace to the flying area of the Beacon Country Park, Skelmersdale is between the two car parks on the upholland side of the hill leading to Dalton and before the Golf Course.

The first turning is Harts Lane Car Park

Although Hart's Lane is the quieter of the car parks it is a small trek from there to the flying area on the hill side but very picturesque. The Main car park overlooks the field and is used from Naturists, Kiters, Dog Walkers, Ice Cream Guys and the General Public.

Please if visiting the Beacon look out for the warning signs. The far side of the field is not defined but try to stay clear of the first 50 metres or so from the main car park if you are laying Stunt Kite lines down as children do not see the hazard.

The Beacon is renowned for its "strange" winds which either whip up the hill, hide behind the trees or just change directions frequently. A true challenge for the flyer.

A precautionary note also, to stay a short way down the hill if flying single line kites. The road is not visible behind the hedging at the top of the hill and children have lost kites this way.

The site is under permenant construction so please return regularly for updates.
