The Beachside Model Raceway is a privatly owned slotcar track for racing 1/32 , 1/25th and 1/24th scale slotcars . Beachside Model Raceway is not a Commercial venture open to the general public , racing is via invitation only - if you are interested in racing slotcars please contact me via email at kerr2@iprimus.com.au
Beachside Model Raceway is located in the southern suburbs of Adelaide South Australia.
The main track has four lanes with an average lap length of 26.5 metres the power supply is a 40 amps - variable output generally run at 12 volts . A computer counts laps and does the lap timing to 1000s of a second and the power is supplied to the slot cars via braided copper which is glued into a routered landing in the track either side of a 3mm wide 7mm deep routered slot. The track is built on a plywood / pine timber table 10.5m x 2.7m the track inself has the slots routered into MDF board which is attached to the main table . The surface is painted in Enoch grey Dulux Ferrodore roof tile paint which gives good grip , there is no magnetic assistance to hold the slotcars down to the track .
There are two other 1/24th 1/25th tracks in the Southern Adelaide suburbs that I know of
Southern Slotcar Raceway (SSR)
Adelaide Model Raceway (AMR)
I have enjoyed racing on both tracks , unfortunately the two tracks race under different car build rules in various car classes , some of these rules do allow some car classes to fit in and race at both of the above tracks (SSR) & (AMR) so I have done my best to come up with some car class build rules that can accomodate people from both of the other two tracks so everyone can race at Beachside Model Raceway (BMR) with the various car classes on a similar playing field for some fun and close competition. Racing slotcars beats playing darts or waiting around to get onto a pool table anyday.
Who needs rules ? Why have build rules ?
We (slotcar enthusiasts) all say we are in it for fun and its not about racing for cattle stations .......until we put our car on the track and pick up the controller......then the red mist comes over us and the competition starts.......everything is fine until the opposition blows by at something close to twice the speed our slotcar can summon up and we then say " HEY thats not right ....we need some build rules "
