Hum...a little about me? Well...
My actual name is Billie Bookwalter. Since my name is long and sort of confusing for people when they first read it, I chose to use B.B. Walter as my pen name. So, it's really my name, but not, too!
I was born and raised in a rural southern Indiana town until I met and fell in love with the most devilishly handsome man in the world. My Zachary whisked me away to a quaint town in Illinois where we've been living happily with our two dogs, Tweakers and Widget, for the last 9 (oh my god, has it been that long?) years. We married in a beautiful and creative wedding in 2005 before close friends and family in a mock 20's speak-easy wedding, complete with bar, flappers, and gangsters. My husband has always exhibited the tremedous patience it takes to be married to a writer, and I love him all the more for it. I know I'm not easy to live with, but he makes me and everyone else believe that I am.
I'm the third daughter of a single mother, Rita, who raised me with the determination of solid steel and the ability to roll with the punches. My two sisters, Becky and Michelle, always encouraged me in my writing, even if they did not encourage my peculiar sense of fashion. They have always seemed to be proud of their little sister, and I've always counted myself fortunate to have such great sisters. I even grew a fondness for my family always introducing me as "the Weird One" so much that I decided to embrace it and come up with the most fantastical things my brain could produce. I mean, what's the point of life if you can't leave one helluva stamp?!
Always an avid reader (thanks Beck!), I've only been writing since the 6th grade (and, let me tell you, those are interesting stories to go back and reread for sheer humility factor)
My passion has always been for the worlds that other's could see, and I just decided one day that I would squint my eyes and tilt my head until I could see all those wonderful worlds, too! And it turned out to be kismet; finally my world clicked into place and I knew my part in it.
My hobbies are books (whether or not I've written them) and spending time with good friends (whether or not that be over a good cooked meal or rabble-rousing on stage at badly sang, but always entertaining, karaoke). I also enjoy taking the time to let a good movie (or some really bad but funny ones) whisk me away.
My husband and I have no children currently, but I love spending time with my thirteen year old niece (who is beautiful and a talented singer) and my six year old nephew (who has so much energy that it takes three, four, five adults to keep up with him) and spoiling them rotten.
I just wanted to let everyone know that writes to never give up! Persistance and hardwork are all that's needed to actually achieve your dream. I was afraid for years that my work was not good enough, or not creative enough, to actually make it into print, even though all I ever dreamed of being was a writer. This was foolishness, I realized, and say to all of you who have the same dream to "Wake Up!" You're never going to know if it really is any good unless you try and let some people read it!! What you need to do is stop thinking so much and just do it...I mean, it's what we do when we write, right?
I'll try to keep my website as up-to-date as possible with release dates, book signings/readings and radio or television spots. I hope to see everyone at my signings! And remember...Just squint your eye and tilt your head...maybe you'll find your fabulous world, too!
Blessed be!
