The loss of a number of important workers from last years Track Program has seen a few changes in 2008/09, However in general the 2008/09 Bathurst Track season will follow a similar format to that in the past.
A meeting on the 17th October 2008, proposed a general Friday night format as follows:-
6.00 -6.30pm skills (Skills will run from 6pm to 6.45pm).
6.30-6.45pm Run 2 races for each category. (u/9, u/11, u/13, u/15 - if numbers allow)
7.00-7.15pm Senior warm up.
7.15pm Night Racing Session. 2 junior races to be held within the first part of the senior racing session. This will enable the kids to finish their racing by 7.45/8pm to to let the seniors get through their program before it gets too cold!!
Skills sessions will be run weekly from 24th October to 12 December. There will not be any skills run during the school holidays. Skills will resume once school goes back in 2009. The Club is asking for volunteers to run the kids session under the guidance of experienced club members, with a Skills Coaching course planned for the second week of January. For more info on the Bathurst Cycling Club Friday evening Junior Skills session Click Here.
Kids are to stay in the middle of the track during the skills session and to be on the outside during the senior warm up.
The bbq will be cooking up a storm on Friday nights from 7pm to 9pm. It would be great if people could help out with the cleaning and packing up of the bbq so the same people aren't doing it all the time
The Club is close to finalising a duty roster for the Night Racing Session. It seems that a number of members are willing to accept official roles for the 2008/09 season, these names and responsibilities will be listed below shortly. However it should be noted that it is not club policy that only a few should have to do the work, so all participants are expected to chip in an help if this doesn't occur a roster will be drawn up.
It is hoped that the following positions can be filled for the track (Senior and Junior) by the AGM, of course some of these position can be filled by roster -
Committee:
- Guidelines (2 to 5 for seniors and additional 2 to 5 for Juniors) one person for Chairman ie reports to the monthly Bcc Review Meetings. Desirable - 1 chairman to represent both groups with 2 senior, 2 junior committeepersons to total a 5 person track committee that meet formalily at least 3 times during the track season.

Last year the club was very lucky to have great sponsor in WINNING EDGE CYCLES to back the JACKPOT WHEEL RACE series, (with BELLY'S BIKE helping out with the skills), Although without a sponsor this season it is expected that the same Jackpot series with go ahead. See details on the Series and the Track Championships on the Track Calendar link above.
I am sure the 2008/9 will again produce some excellent racing and a great spectacle.
