Hollee Simons in the under 13 girls Category started out her campaign in fine style with a win in stage 1, followed by a second in stage 2. But then on Day 2 Hollee showed why she is the current NSW Under 13 State Time Trial Champion, blitzing the field in the 3rd Stage Time Trial Stage and then record a comfortable win in the final road race to easily win the Yellow jersey for the overall champion Female in the u13s Division.
Bathurst had 2 very promising riders in the Under 15 Men’s Division at Tamworth with Harrison Jones and Harrison Carter both candidates for the Yellow jersey. Stage 1 saw Harrison Carter and pre race favourite Nathan Bradshaw break clear to take the top two placings, Carter finishing 2nd place but claiming the King of Mountains JERSEY, with Harrison Jones finishing in pack. Stage 2 saw another demanding climb with Harrison Carter coming away with the win over the National sprint champion Michael Docker while Harrison Jones was moving into contention with very credible 6th.
Day 2 started with a Time Trial; Harrison Carter wearing the yellow jersey put in a top ride to finish second to Nathan Bradshaw who moved into the overall lead, Harrison Jones getting stronger all the time put in a great ride for 4th place. Harrison Carter put in a gallant performance in Stage 4 attacking the climb to attempt to win back the Yellow and Climbers Jersey, as a result an elite bunch of 7 riders broke clear in the stage that included both Bathurst Boys. In the dash to the line Carter timed his sprint to perfection to came away with the win, but sadly just missed winning the overall Yellow Jersey, Harry Jones again strong but unsuited by the stage finish coming 7th in the stage.
Congratulations to our teams at the NSW Team Time trial Championships

O’Donnell and Whyte triumph in windy conditions
Saturday September 13th – 26km Handicap Race Ryan O'Donnell digs deep during last weekend's race
A field of 30 strong competitors braved blustery conditions for the race last Saturday. The 26km Anzac course was to be the battleground for the split A/B and C/D handicaps.
Doug Whyte, Greg Wills and Marion Renshaw were 1st away in the C/D race, followed 2 minutes later by improving youngster Harrison Jones, Tamsyn Moana-Veale, and the new star Steve Buckley. Further back were 2 x formidable bunches – Garry Taunton, Ian Hill, Graham Wheeler and Dominique Goddard, and the fierce back markers David Reece, Tom McClelland, and Chris Cady.
In a contest that involved both ends of the race, front marker Doug Whyte managed to hold off the charging back markers for 1st place, followed by Garry Taunton, Graham Wheeler, Harrison Jones, and Dr Tom McClelland for 5th place.
The A/B race proved to be a similar contest, with back and front markers alike contesting for positions across the line – a sure sign that the handicapper is getting it right!! Front markers Jack Goddard, Jarrah Deans, Jody Parker, Luke Bingham and Mick Goddard set a great pace at the start of the race, setting the scene for a thrilling chase.
New comer John Sherman had a fantastic 1st race, combining with Rod Esdaile and Chris Heming to catch the lead group just before Georges Plains. Behind, a super group had formed containing Scott Allen, Damien Benentt, Craig Hutton, David Jones, Connor Trot, and Graham Stait. Meanwhile, backmarkers Ryan O’Donnell, Dean Windsor and Bruce Goddard had chased and caught Simon Hine, Tony Barlow and Peter Cady.
Clever handicapping brought the race together at the Newbridge turn. Dean Windsor put in a blistering attack on the road back to Georges Plains, that could only be answered by a few select riders. It was then at St Johns road that hard man Ryan O’Donnell counter attacked and was able to stay away for 1st place, followed by Peter Cady, Connor Trot, Jack Goddard (fantastic result for 1st ride back after some time off the bike), and David Jones for 5th place.
