Certainly there will be bands, combat display and demonstrations of ancient crafts enough to please the most avid enthusiast – and so many different stall even the most demanding shopper should be satisfied –they will find everything from a beautifully embroidered gown, to a wooden spoon, suit of armour or bag of sweets.
And of course there will be large beer tent with a range of real ales and beers and - if you want to try a real taste of the past - mead.
The event takes place on part of the site of the original battle of Tewkesbury of May 4th 1471, when the Houses of York and Lancaster met in a bloody battle which left thousands of brave men – including Edward Prince Wales, dead and put Edward IV firmly on the throne of England.
The festival runs from 11am to 6pm on both days, and is followed by events in the town, including the not –to serious trial and beheading of a number of captured Lancastrians.
This is followed by the service of Compline, as it would have been heard in the Abbey.

Home Educators Development Week

Sat 22 - Thu 27 Sep 2007

0-15 yrs £27 / adults £38

Early booking strongly recommended!

Wherever you are on the home education path, this week offers something special: a time for home educating families to meet, learn new skills, access resources and to play!

Sharing knowledge and experience regarding home education is an important part of this week, alongside opportunities to try crafts such as feltmaking and pottery, and making new friendships. There will be workshops run by representatives of Education Otherwise, the Home Education Advisory Service and Human Scale Education, which previous participants have found especially useful. We will learn how best to use these organisations, how to utilise resources and how to build effective networks to develop local home education groups. Monkton Wyld has a rich history of involvement with alternative education and is delighted to be hosting these events.

The Local Network Fund has provided significant funding to reduce the price for this course, so you will be asked to phone Ann before your booking can be confirmed.

Ann is an experienced course facilitator and home educator with 5 children. She is trained in the Montessori philosophy of learning, and in child-centred conflict resolution

Please phone our office before booking.
