simple and easy model train kits

Welcome to Lyndon's Basic Australian Trains

Completed body kit of VR M Class

HO SCALE KITS OF AUSTRALIAN PROTOTYPES

The idea behind Basic Trains came from my needs as a modeller in my mid/late teens. There were lots of kits available, ranging from relatively simple to quite complex, and the end result was always evidence of my effort and skill level at the time.

Today we are very lucky to have so many producers of RTR models for the Australian railway modeller. However, these companies generally only focus on big ticket items due to the costs involved.

Lyndon's Basic Australian Trains endevours to fill the void between the readily available, and the never available. Some of the kits we produce will be basic enough to enable beginners to assemble them, yet be great starting points for those who like to super detail. The choice of prototype is to be not so commonly thought of loco's and wagons (I hope) in HO SCALE at this stage, with maybe a venture into other scales later.. There's also a prototype photo gallery of photo's I take on my travels.
