Basford Mill C.C.
Basford Mill C.C. was founded in 1989 by the current 2nd XI captain Ian Bosworth and has recently celebrated its’ 20th season as a club
From humble beginnings in 1989, to its’ present state, the club has expanded from the original squad to a club consisting of two Saturday League sides (Bassetlaw divisions 4&6 respectively), one Sunday friendly side and an expanding Junior section, allowing young cricketers to progress through the club with the hope of eventually playing 1st XI Cricket.
Basford Mill C.C’s Junior Section consists of three age group sides (U11, U13, U15) as well as a Kwik Cricket team for those new to the game.
Basford Mill C.C, while only being twenty years old, has already become steeped in tradition, with annual tours to North Devon during the first weekend in September, and other yearly social events that bring past and present members of the club together.
Cricket Grounds :-
Basford Mill C.C’s original ground was located on the site of
However, the club unfortunately lost their Bluecoat ground a few years after acquiring the City Hospital ground, which forced the club to relocate to the City Hospital full time.
After many years of hard work from the clubs grounds-men (currently Ian Bosworth, Thomas Bosworth and Craig Harrison), the ground has improved in quality, allowing the club to provide quality wickets for every game throughout the season.
Facilities :-
Basford Mill C.C’s practice facilities consist of two practice nets, both with artificial strips. In addition to these, we have a fully functioning bowling machine available for use whenever needed.
Also, an international standard artificial wicket was installed in 2004, by Derek Randall’s own company, which has much life in it still.
The club’s pavilion, while aging, is kept as well maintained as possible and also features a fully integrated score box, which keeps our ever present scorer (Stewart Huskinson) happy.
Coaches :-
Presently, we have three ECB qualified coaches and are working towards becoming a Focus club
The club is willing to send anyone wishing to become a Basford Mill C.C. coach on a coaching course, providing they prove their loyalty to the club.
