Welcome!

Baseball has a very special place in the hearts of millions of fans. Even as it has sputtered over the years, true baseball fans continue to follow their favorite sport and just as many continue to participate in it. Baseball is distantly related to cricket and rounders, while softball is very similar to baseball - instead played with a bigger, 'softer' ball and modified rules.
Like many other fans, baseball has been a passion for me. I started playing at a young age and grew up listening to the ball game on radio or watching my favorite team play on TV. For a long while that was the thing to do. But then in 1994 something changed. The baseball strike left a sour taste in my mouth (as it did for many other fans) or maybe I just grew up - but watching a baseball game suddenly became "boring". I can probably count on two hands how many times I have managed to sit through a complete regular season baseball game (playoffs and World Series are different). But even as my interest in watching baseball has waned, I still follow the game very closely. I still take part in it - have so for over 10 straight years. Well actually its softball and a big part of the experience is hanging out with friends and having a couple of cold beers after the game, but close enough. So this is the story of just one baseball fan. The game still has the mystique, maybe its just the attitudes and the money that have changed things. Maybe I just need to go rent "Field of Dreams" ;).
This site is divided into four parts, spanning the history of baseball; some famous and interesting quotes from baseball personalities, photographs of baseball players and stadiums, and some of the other Internet websites that also revolve around baseball and sports in general. I just wanted to put some things together on what still keeps me interested in baseball. Hope you find it helpful and enjoy your visit to Baseball Hound!
Congratulations to the Chicago White Sox for defeating the Houston Astros in four straight games to win the 2005 MLB World Series Champtionship. The ChiSox and their fans have been waiting since 1917 for this victory and had an excellent regular season and playoffs. They fully deserved this honor.
