Thank you, I enjoyed looking at your site. I am researching the Bygott family, many of whom lived in Barton over 3 centuries at least. They lived at Glebe House, The Dower House (I do not know where that was), Whitecross Street and Fleetgate. Any information gratefully received. Olivia

I am also interested in the Bygott family from Barton. I have a Susannah Bygott married Christopher Nelson on 17 Jan 1765. Susannah was possibly the daughter of James Bygott and Elizabeth Serjeant.. There are a number of Lincolnshire wills which might be connected to these Bygotts. Please contact me if any of this sounds familiar. = Bob Barber

Just had a quick look at your site, very intersesting and certaily worth another look. No pictures of the Ropery even though this a very important part of the towns history. Talk to me if you would like to add this to your site. Well done.

My grandmother was Violet Grassby nee Jack who lived in Barton and her and her husband ran a cycle shop which is now a bakery. I knew nothing of this until 3 years ago and was most interested to find your unusual website whilst researching my family tree. Congratulations.

Hi. I'm researching a family from Goltho Lincs but 'happened upon' your site. Brilliantly done and very absorbing.
Best wishes

Hello, My grandfather was John Chapman who emigrated to America in 1886.He arrived in the USA with only the clothes on his back and a fifty cent piece in his pocket. He worked his way west to Iowa where he had been promised a farm job by a distant cousin who came over earlier. He married Julia Wilson from a nearby farm. They saved their money qand eventually bought a 150 acre farm near Belmond Iowa, where they raised nine children.
John Chapman was the son of Robert Chapman and Elisabeth Westaby Chapman. They are buried in the same cemetery as the Chapman ancestors of Johnny Appleseed according to my father Harvey. I have as yet not located that cemetery in Barton on the Humber.
