Children's Poetry Competition 2007

Ashby Writers' Club have recently run a competition for a "Green" poem written by a child in a primary school in Ashby, Coalville and surrounding villages.  There was a good response with over 200 entries. 
 
 The competiition was adjudicated by Les Baynton, a Derby poet (and an ex-Primary School head).  The winner is Hannah May Kitson from Albert Village Primary School with her poem "My Life".  In second and third place were Kerri Rebecca Schubert with "Envy" and Samual Alexander Stevens with "Martians", both from Hugglescote Primary School.  These win book tokens for £20, £15 and £10.

The winning entries plus the shortlisted poems were on display in Ashby Musem in North Street from Monday 28th May until Saturday 9th June.  There was a presentation to the winners and runners-up at 10am on Saturday 2nd June at the museum.
