Jarrod Sayer spends hours in planes—but he does his sightseeing while
free-falling from 1500 ft. As a Forest Service smoke jumper in McCall,
Idaho, the 35-year-old parachutes 20 times a year into pristine
backcountry to battle wildfires. “I get more out of life by doing
this,” he says. “How many people go to work 30 miles into the
wilderness, then hike to a river and catch a jet boat home?”
