Barbie's World

Hi thanks for checking out my site, I'm Brian or Barbieboy07 if you prefer. First I'd like to give you at least some idea on who I am. I'm 19 years old and i've been blogging for about two years now. I graduated high school back in 2007 and ever since I've become more and more interested in gay culture, gay rights activism and the problems we as gay men face. Plus a bunch of really fun stuff as well including links to my favorite websites for gossip, news and podcasting!

I love reading books on history and civil rights. If i'm not at a concert i'm prolly at home with friends singing disney karaoke. I'm totally addicted to anime, and i normally watch cartoons until i fall asleep. Itunes is the reason i'm always broke, my ipod is totally stuffed with music and movies.(that i hardly ever watch) I'm always eating... My look on a weekday going or coming from work is my ipod in one hand and a hotdog in the other. I workout but i'm not a nut,i work out when i can (just to maintain) eating right is also important to me, i seldomly eat junk food, and when i do I'll eat an entire bag of Krunchers.

Music is my LIFE, so my life is pretty much concerts and musicals! I'm on facebook alot so i see all the free events the city has to offer, i love going to movie screenings(even that Paris Hilton movie that came out awhile ago) Free museum days are my fav! i can spend all day at the art institutes gallery.

My point of view is this, I'm an african american, bisexual identifying 19 year old, who has seen his share of good and bad times. I went to high school here in chicago but i'm not from chicago. My mother and I moved here when i was 13, and starting my first year of high school. Most of my feelings during that time were a sort of self discovery, not sure if i was gay or straight or even transgendered I did what most GLBT kids do in high school.... Drugs. I started doing drugs in my sophomore year of H.S when i transfered out of the sheltered private school life and into the hard and real world of a public school. Tilden wasn't my first public school but it was certainly my first public school in chicago and that made all the difference. Besides drugs i also got into risky sexual activity with peers and for a few months during the warmer seasons i would go to lake view and see if i could pick up any prospective johns just for fun. I didn't do it for the money really, I did it because i felt i was addicted to sex. Of course now i've learned that it wasn't the sex I was addicted to, it was the false sense of love i felt every time i gave someone an orgasm. Since Tilden I've had some pretty wacky jobs, including working in a car wash making 50 cents per car, to working as a Pharmacy Technician at a hospitals pharmacy dept. Sometimes it seems like I've seen  and done it all in this city, but really my story has just started....
