Bangor Rangers U13s 2 - 1 Ards Youth Girls
Bangor Rangers U13s entertained Ards Youth Girls at the Valentines in a league fixture.
Rangers started the game well and with the wind behind them they pegged Ards into their own half. On 10 minutes Rangers took the lead when Cameron Ennis stormed into the box beating a defender and swept the ball across the keeper into the net.
Rangers were in control and missed several chances to go further ahead with Andy Burrows going close with two long range efforts, Craig Beattie hitting the crossbar from almost the halfway line and Cameron Ennis hitting the post.
It was Alex O’Neill who grabbed the second goal for Rangers when a goal mouth scramble resulted in the ball falling to his right foot and he made no mistake from six yards.
Rangers could have made it three just before the break when Matthew Cousins broke down the right but drove his shot just wide. Half-time 2-0 to Bangor Rangers.
Rangers came out for the second half and put in their worst half hour of football of the season, with poor passing and defenders failing to clear the ball. It was Ards who were putting the pressure on.
Rangers created one scoring chance in the whole half when Nathan McMaster's shot was well saved by the keeper's feet and the ball broke to Ian Ingles who saw his goal bound shot cleared off the line. Ards grabbed a late goal but Rangers held on for a 2-1 victory.
