Welcome
1908 was the very first match with the proceeds being shared between three local hospitals; The Prince of wales, Waltham Abbey & Cheshunt Cottage. It was founded by local businessmen and shopkeepers, and had as it's patron Sir Hedworth Meux of Theobalds Park.
Originally played on the Cheshunt Recreation Ground at Albury Ride, the match was transferred to Waltham Cross Playing Fields after the second world war. The 'war' between the Bakers & Sweeps has continued to the present day, through popular local support and remains one of the few local historical events that remain not only in the Borough of Broxbourne, but throughout England.
As well as our traditional Flour and Soot Football Massacre, we also hold a Xmas Dinner and Dance and Five-A-Side Tournament as well as other fund raising events throughout the year.
In the past three years we have been able to donate nearly £20,000 to our nominated charities; Cheshunt Age Concern, Isabel Hospice Specialist Nurses and The Friends of the Samaritans.
To enable the local tradition to flourish we need your support, so please do all you can to come along to any of our events throughout the year
Best Wishes
The Committee
