BAHLI TESFA is a newly formed non-profit Eritrean cultural troupe in Toronto.
The formation started in the beginning of 2006. We were all young Eritrean musicians
looking to share our talents and passions for playing music and performing dance with others.
One by one we met each other through musican and other Eritrean events, and slowly we
started to form. We fully got formed in the summer of 2006 and we have been practicing regulary.
What brought us together is not only the fact we have musical and dancing ability,
but we all have a passion for playing music and we want to learn and teach our country's
history and culture.
Bahli Tesfa mainly performs Eritrean music and dances (cultural as well as modern) and short dramas/skits.

Band Objectives
Stay close to our roots.
As we choreograph new dances and practice our music, we are always
learning new things about our country and our culture. We improve in speaking our
language when we sing the songs we perform. And we also stay close to our
famillies and communities.
Be good role models.
Alot of the shows we perform at, there are many Eritrean kids and youth watching us.
We take leadership in being postive role models for them by teaching them more
about their culture and heritage and also teach them to be proud of who they are.
Teach the world about Eritrea.
The world is not familliar with this tiny but beautiful East African country. We want to make
it our main mission to teach Canadians and hopefully the world about Eritrea's history
and culture using music, dance, and drama.
